  • Hello, I'm very new around here so please be kind!
two wire retracts
« on: January 11, 2018, 21:46:07 PM »
I have a model that has two wire retract servos
i am struggling to get a new controller for these so can i use them with the traditional three wire servo plugs?

the size and shape of the installed retracts is quite compact so i am not keen on fitting an all new set up if at all possible

any advice??

So how can they work, + and - for the electric motor so how can you tell them to open and close
without a third wire ?. :embarassed:

By having a micro controller. .The controller has a 3 wire connection to the Rx (you can see the white wire in the promo blurb), so is able to 'receive' the 'gear up' and 'gear down' commands from the RX. It processes the Rx commands and supplies current down the two wires to the retract motors in the correct polarity for the correct amount of time to drive the gear to the required position. It will presumably either sense the current drawn by the motor to detect when the motor stalls at the end of its travel and stop the current flow or it will simply just supply the current for a set length of time.

Thanks, silly me, a simple electrical inverter ,,  :''
it can be made using a simple twin poled slide switch operated by a servo,,, as in on your field box to run the fuel pomp,,

Yes, but it has to have a cut out when it reaches the end of the travel or it could burn out or flatten the battery, reading the info on these units they have a current cutout, so when the motor stalls the current increases and the electronics cut the supply, probably only allowing re-energising when the direction is reversed.

three wires from receiver, three outputs 2 for wing and 1 for tail wheel, changes direction by changing polarity to retracts
