What to buy
« on: October 07, 2018, 16:53:54 PM »
Thinking a Horus Tx is a possible candidate to replace my Spektrum DX8. Any advice as to which version to buy? Just found the T9 Hobby site, so will be using that shop rather than HK.

ive owned the x12 and x10s. The 12 was bought from hobbyking and went back as faulty with a known issue and was refunded. I replaced it with the 10 which is lighter and feels better to handle and never regretted it.
After issues with hobbyking with the 12 Iíd advise using t9 hobby sport whoís the uk importer.

I use a 12 but I have the aftermarket bars so it hangs off a shoulder harness.  It's a little more bulky than the 10, something to think about if you have small hands.  The 12 has the screen at the top, the 10 at the bottom but with verbal readouts that's not really an issue.  Accessing the battery in a 12 isn't easy as there isn't a battery hatch.  It's NiMh and the charger is built in so no fast charging.
Definitely T9 Hobbysport, excellent service and Richard knows his onions when it comes to FrSky.
flying's easy - it's getting it back down in one piece that's the hard part

Thanks, assuming that the X10S is the way to go now.

Any recommendations on the Rx type for a large IC powered model?

Note the following against the RX8R Pro Rx:
The new upgraded RX8R Pro is based on the RX8R receiver, it has exactly the same features but the new 'Pro' has higher precision and lower latency. Itís deviation of PWM is reduced to 0.5us, and the delay of PWM output is 9ms less than that of the X8R in high speed mode. And a new feature to decrease effect from interference caused by the ignition process.

What are FrSky referring to in the description wrt the 'ignition process'? Assume it is issues with use of Petrol ignition motors.

Iíve had no issues with x8r receivers in petrol models so far. On the model Iím currently building Iím installing an rx8rpro and an Xm+ receiver because I want to have a play with the redundancy function.
Also made the move to open tx a few weeks ago. Itís a bit of a steep learning curve but Iím getting to grips now. On first viewing the output screen looks like the matrix code until itís explained to you

I have had seven different RCGF engines over the years and never had a single problem with ignition noise. Keep the spark plug connector clean, use decent batteries, keep the Rx as far away from the engine as possible and if you have to place a servo in the engine bay use a ferrite on the servo lead.

In danger here of drifting away from the problem, which was with the initial PRO high speed high resolution version of the 8 Channel, hence the upgrade.

his ended in the 'dust',,  :embarassed:

all changed to rxcel now,,  :af
