Yep, a big TRUCK too when compared to the lithesome lines of a beautiful Spitfire............and of course, the Spitfire was still a front line fighter at the END of the war, not pensioned off after a couple of years. Even Hawkers next effort failed to come up to expectations, it was outclassed by the Griffon Spitfire. I don't recall Fritz, exclaiming ...........Achtung, Achtung, Hurricane................or Comandant type Fritz, when asked by Goering "what was needed to defeat the Tommies" replying "what i need is a squadron of Hurricanes"...............they knew which was the most dangerous.

I am quite a fan of the Hurricane in a QUAINT sort of way, very good machine in its day, but way over rated by most, and still a TRUCK

It's all very well nipping around going 'look how nimble and slick i look' Then a few little bullet holes and its off to the work shop.... and no more flying for you for awhile. Not like the rugged old Hurri, just slap a patch on and up she goes again :D :D :D

Just a quick note about the G4 stuff, DW and Walts, the wing is next for some G4 but I can't get close to it at the moment, then I'm going to Germany next week, but then, if the modelling Gods allow, it should be Hurricane all the way with a lot more progress. But you've heard all that before :embarassed:

Its still here on the rack. Can't / don't want to sell it. It seems that with waiting for the electrickery stuff and other builds I am really struggling to get it back on the bench :embarassed:

Ian, may I trouble you to describe how the aileron receives the piano wire torque rod arrangement? I'm guessing it's a pair of plywood plates or similar? I'd like to "borrow" the idea  :)

I need a new witty signature...

Jamie, inside the aileron, set square to the wire torque rod is a rail of paxolin above and below the rod. This is made up on the bench, then fitted to the aileron and boxed in before the top skin is fitted. I think DB makes these torque drives available separately if you want some ready to fit, but you still have to make up the paxolin jobbie. They really do work superbly, no slop at all, very positive drive and nearly as important, no visible linkages :af

There has been a slight development on this Hurricanes future, due to the lack of availability of the lekky bits (can't believe how long it has taken not to get the stuff) it is now going back to having a real motor fitted, a Quadra 42 with a longer prop driver, but, it'll sit in stores till time allows. I aint got that much time for toy planes at the moment, a liveable house is taking priority at the moment, the push is on to be in for winter ::cc

From the sise of the trailer you towed up to the field today I thought you'd brought the house with you so you could do some extra work when you weren't actually flying  :ev

Hello Ian,
I like your work and it is truly something I will strive for in the years to come.  I am a novice and am building my first giant warbird an 88" p-47 scratch build.  I am using your bell crank concept to steer the rudder and tail wheel with a twist that my bird has retracts at the tail wheel.  I think it will be very similar with the springs helping in stow and landing positions.

No mate, the guy I was building it for had a smaller electric Hurricane when we couldn't get hold of the leccy bits for this one. This one was sold on but has made a return a couple of months ago. The new owner wants me to complete it since I started it ;D ;D Sometime soon!

Seeing this thread makes me wish I had stored my old DB H and not sold it on.... Having played with the H9P47 for a year now I might actually enjoy the DBH right now...
