It's so much more fun playing "real" opponents.

See you in there soon :af

I'm taking it personally  ;D ;D

Is there any way before picking a base to know how many are on each side, so that when people come into a game, it doesn't end up one sided :af

Or teams ?
Any plane flyable ?

I will check in tonight... is that early or late night ?

How many are we now that´s on the duty roster?

Kdc,

Blue side Allies, Red side Axis, 4/5 players last night, we need more, so spread the word.

Limited range of planes at present, sorry no 163, but we're working on it.

Last nights game started early, I will start a game at 16.30 ish BST, so just check after that.........

Looking foward to trading .5" cannon shells........ :ev  :ev  :ev

hey people. may i sugest a different map?

there is one called pearl (must be pearl harbour) where the two air bases are closer so less time flying and more fighting.

Tonights game was all fun !
We must do this again. :af :af :af

May I suggest we use realistic gunnery ?
As it is now the bullets give more than 2 x the damage and the "hitbox" around the planes is very large, making it hard not to miss (and to escape the bullets if you are under fire)

Blackout would be great too.
The flight model could be made harder by turning on flutter and stalls but I understand If you we should keep it more simple as the game is not easy to fly in it´s most realistic setting for a novice.

If we turn on stalls we would have a different strategy in our fights. If you would stall out in a tight turn the one chasing you would benefit from it, instead of both just going around in circles with full elevator with no risk of a snap.

I´m not complaining here, just tossing some ideas out.

Again, great fun !
First time I played it online ! Won´t be the last  ! :af :af

And I´m getting more understanding of the confusion in dogfights, and the difficulty of jugding you height over open water....

who´s insane... Who said that ????

I saw you all last night in the RCMF room, however by the time I had installed the stand alone PF (currently have a merged install), downloaded all 3 patches, you had all gone!  I'll be ready next time <evil laugh>

Looking forward to catching up with you all.

Pleased that you guys are enjoying the fun....... :af

I am working on a Custom Scene/Map where I hope we can have the rival airfields closer together. I haven't done this before so a pretty steep learning curve.........be patient.

Kdc, thanks for the positive comments, the 'dificulty settings' will EVOLVE as time goes on, I know of a few guys yet to play are very much first timers with IL-2 and one or two who can't take off from a carrier yet..........LOL

The next game will have 'realistic gunnery', should make the fight a bit longer.

To all the 'Aces' just hang on, be patient, the game will become more difficult/realistic as it evolves..... :co  :co  :co

Is that OK?

See you at 'Angels 15' tonight?

P.S. looks like it's  on again for tonight then....... :af  :af  :af

Hope to see you there tonight !

Andy, I resemble that remark  ;D

Seriously that spit and zero would not get off, but the f4u did no problem

Still have an issue with two different wingman joysticks that I cant get min power below 29%, even using the +/- keys it jumps back up. I cant find anywhere to calibrate the throttle, any ideas?

You should be able to calibrate the throttle (the whole stick actually), go to Windows Control Panel, then (depending on OS Version) you should see Game Controllers listed.  Then Cailbrate and test.  I use a Wingman and its the best I've had yet.

Should be online tonight, cheers.

IL-2 Sturmovik is just the generic term for a series of games, we are playing Pacific Fighters, the latest game, if you read this thread from page 1, you will know what it's all about........ :af  :af  :af

As far as I can tell most guys are using Joysticks and yes, seem to be having a lot of fun..... :)  :)  :ww

Hi BF,

Here's a brief history:

First there was iL2 Sturmovik, then came iL2: Forgotten Battles, a completely new game.  Expansions for Forgotten Battles were released (originally £20 a pop), these were Ace Expansion Pack, Battle over Europe, and more recently Pacific Fighters.  Pacific Fighters is unique in that not only does it upgrade your iL2 Forgotten Battles, but it can also be used as a Stand Alone Installation (so no need to buy Forgotten Battles).

As the name suggests, the only theatre of War is the Pacific, Forgotten Battles gives you the Eastern Front (Finland, Russia), then the Ace expansion gave you the Western Front (Normandy, Ardennes etc) Regular patches also increase the amount of flyable and AI aircraft, as well as updating the flight engine physics and new ground objects, maps etc.

So go for Pacific Fighters, install it stand alone, and go for it.  I have Pacific Fighters stand alone for this online stuff, sure you can get it cheap now from play.com, amazon etc.

Fenland Flyer, iL2 Geek.

Yeah, its all about energy, boom and zoom etc.  If you point and squirt you get your ass kicked.  Its all about taking your time getting into the best firing position, keeping momentum and speed etc.  Last time I went online I got slaughtered!  I know the theory, but prefer point and squirt  :ev

I´m quite sure they both could as F/S airplanes  :D

But you really must calibrate your throttle as I took off from a carrier in a zero in last nights game !

Fight night tonight then ?

Well chap, cheer up.
You just made some basic misstakes. As mentioned, don´t loose energy. If you do you are dead. Don´t get into a turning fight if your plane can´t hack it. Better to boom and zoom if so..

And don´t forget that height is life.. Dive to attack then climb up again. Dont go in circles at 240 Km/h.

And a qoute from the movie we all know of :
"Don´t fly straight and level for more than 30 seconds in the combat area, how many times have I told you ! "

I went online but found only Andy, or his plane (a P-63) more like it as he wasn´t at his computer.  But I just want to say that he died a cruel death, he slowly burned to death in his airplane after I accidentally set it on fire on a strafing run. Love those 0.5 cal...

The game notified me after about 1 minute that he was dead, barbecued. So I got 1 kill at lest.. :ev

Im ba-aaak!  :D

that landing at kuala lumpur was scary! 1 km visibility in a 737 300. we were banking quite high angles even just above the runway and landed on one wheel.   got to visit the captain in the cockpit after. I think he was an experienced pilot. I think he's experienced worse!
the bad visibility was due to rainforest burning in sumatra >:(  theyl never learn until it is all gone.
but it was great. saw orang-utans, eagles, and got many leech bites! and saw twin otters and the like at the airport.

il go and see whos online now.
