While looking for a 3.5m electric glider I came across this 1.4m hotliner. The specs seem to suggest that I could use my Typhoon 15/10 on 8 cells -has anyone got one of these flying who can tell me how much power it really needs?
Cheers,

What power were you planning to use? I'd get mine from Germany, it's closer for me.

can't remember, it all started with me wanting to use my 400 size Align LF
but it would have needed a gear box.
there was a brushless motor meantioned that would have swung a suitable prop direct drive.
all the info should be there.

Bill, do you have any figures for the motor(amps, prop, rpm)? I have four 8 cell GP1100 packs, it's a start! I checked the Typhoon 15 on one yesterday and I am getting 8800 rpm on a 9x5 folder with 8 GP1100 at 13A (wanted to play with my new meter!). I wonder if that's enough? The motor weighs about 70 g, I believe (I'd have to take out of the model it's in to check).

Thanks, Bill - if you haven't put it away yet, is there room for a 9" prop to fold without hitting the wing?

It's looking better and better! I have e mailed Reichard the relevant figures to ask about using my Typhoon 15 . Just need to be sure that there is room in the nose, especially as the leads exit the motor at the front and must be kept clear of the rotating case. The model is only £80 in Germany - I would like to support Puffin but the postage charges UK- Finland are prohibitive. I am considering ordering the Scorpion AND the Blizzard together - just waiting for an answer on the combined postage vs the cost of buying them at different times.

Does anyone know whether the Scorpion will allow a Typhoon 15 outrunner in the nose? Is there room for it while allowing clearance for the motor leads? Knowing the size of spinner would be a start, but Reichard have not yet replied to my mail. I am waiting to order two of their gliders from Germany, but need this information first.
Cheers,
Dave

a sprinter got reviewed a while back with an outrunner.
he brought the wires out of the nose, over the motor then back in again.
looked a bit odd, but it worked.

hmmm, not exactly an elegant solution. I am inclined to buy it and hope it fits - if it doesn't then buying another motor won't be the end of civilization as we know it, and the ESC and GP1100 packs will still fit. I'm away this week, but we get home on Sunday evening, should have finished pondering by then.
