  Thanks Andy,
Get that SE5 finished so I can chew ya up with my DVII ^-^

        Getting nearer the maiden now....
Here"s the nose area finished..the arrow points to the SM Services on-board glow....it"s pointed towards an open part in the cockpit, so I can see the diode coming on / off
APC 17/6, balanced, and spinner installed and painted with the darker grey of the Warbirds paint...must add yellow tips for safty too....

Next..the rear cannon....quickly made with some chemi-wood, copper tube, 16th ply....will dry brush with silver to bring it up better..

That"s about the fuse sorted, apart from the rudder closed loop....on to the wing cannons next, the oleos re-installed, then the wings will be bolted on, and the whole plane weathered as on unit....this should really be the time when she comes to life ... :ev

Looks fantastic Cliff, and considering the relatively short length of time it's taken you it's quite an achievement!  :af

I thought the Pawnee was spot on Cliff, but this is something else!

  Brian,
Thanks very much, the IL2 is a great looking warplane..
My friend was out looking at it, so I used the chance of help, to get her assembled, and weighed etc...
  14.3lbs.....so very pleased with it
Also...while still half decent light..got a few shots with the wings on, still very "factory fresh"...but that will chance shortly ;)
  here you go.....

The last pic...the head-on one...shows how little drag their is with this plane, if the retracts and flaps were tucked away..
Would just like to thank everyone who"s chipped in with advice and encouragement ....and a big thanks to Dennis  [Matrock]...it was his superb effort that motivated me to build one....
  hope she flies ok!!!

    Cliff  :)

Yes Cliff, truly looks the business. A rarely modelled aircraft with bags of character. I can't wait to see it weathered up Cliff!

Even at 14lbs I'd imagine the wing loading is still fairly respectable. Good luck with the maiden!

Most impressive, Cliff - there is something curiously attractive about these robust workhorse planes that even the glamour of the Spitfires and Mustangs seems to lack. I'd still love to see the local reaction if I wheeled one of those out over here, though!

At last a decent weekend and a decent video of this impressive model of Cliffs

Happy landings

P.S. you will notice Cliff flies Mode 1 very strange these days

I love the way it hung in the air, like a brick doesn't

Great Vid Tel, well done and thanks for posting it.
Cliff , you`ve got a lot more " Grunt " than mine. I`d need three times the take off run to get into the air !
Looked really good. (A typically blustery NI day I see.)
( Liked the downwind pass a lot . The one where you stepped back a pace ! )
Good stuff !
Regards, Dennis.

Very nice Guys, small strip though  :''

Cliff, just one thing, please use a restraint when you start, you could end up with it in your lap if something untoward happens, def not nice.

Just my safety head on mate, we need all the good modelers we can get  ::)

:''  Land like that, at my club, and they'd crucify you  ;D  They'd be taking the P**s for days  ;D

Great model though, and nicly flown, however I would agree with steve about the restraint (you're braver than me  ;D) and now after seeing yours and Den's fly I agree with him, that yours is well powered.

Well done to the chap behind the camera too

The third one was OK  :af

THat's a seriously narrow looking strip - can't you persuade them to mow a bit more?

That's not a strip, that's a garden path! Is it at your local park Cliff ;D ;D ;D

Must be the camera angle guys that strip is at least 10metres wide and Cliff only used a third of its length, we have had jets here and they managed fine.

 Chaps,
Honestly....I"m really bad about that landing..the next flight was soooo much better...but Tel had his video done, and that was it!...honest..I don"t land like that all the time :embarassed: :embarassed: :embarassed:
Plenty of urge with the 150 :ev..maybe a wee bit too much, but she does look quite aggressive....just the way an IL2 should ^-^

  Grey....get one built..you"ll love it!
