The facility to embed videos in your posts direct from Youtube is now available.
Just click the button and insert the video id from youtube which is the last eleven digits in the code i.e.
would use the last eleven digit code (ceYFQOMLyf4) to give
Code: [Select]

Which equals.....

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceYFQOMLyf4" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceYFQOMLyf4</a>

Just to try it out here is an attempt to load a video of Phil's Valkyrie at the fly-in:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwHVNrpUOXk" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwHVNrpUOXk</a>

  Tom

Well it loaded the blank video screen, but how do you get it to play the video?

Think that video is being hosted on some rubbish part of their network as I can't get it to play either..

You know what this means, random videos!

Sorry, didn't try to click it just fired off a message.

Putting the code you placed into Youtube brings up a message to say the video is being processed. I think the thing to look out for it that the video is playable after you've uploaded in Youtube itself before posting here.

You may well find that a little later on today it completes its processing and is playable here......why it should takes so long is another matter though!

It's been playable in Youtube since last September and it is not just mine that wont play for me.None of the links on this thread will play.

Strange, I can view all but your original video - I have to click the video once to activate it (so it registers my clicks), click the play symbol and it starts.

I can only think the Valkyrie video has been removed (being 6 months old)

Sorry I can't be any more help ???

Ah I see you copied the Address from the address bar in the browser not the link Youtube gives to the right of the video!

Thanks Gerry! It's working now but it is slow. The URL link works a lot faster. I don't see any  advantage using this new method. Or am I missing something?

I find that this does not work in Firefox. The image appears but clicking on it has no effect. If I open the page in IETab in Firefox it works OK.

BTW if your quoting a video link, remove the link in the tabs, otherwise the vid will appear in each quote.

Ah right....thought he'd had more than one. What a lovely machine though! When I last saw it, it was stretched out from one end of his living room and into the hall!

Can you try it in Internet Explorer and see if it works then - if so I think we've found the problem.....

Also, are you on dial-up? Only other thing I can think of is that is loading so slowly you can't view it....

Tried it on IE. Works great :af
And I am on broadband so it looks like Firefox is the problem.

You need to download and install Flash which is what youtube videos use. http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe

Already had Flash installed and have reinstalled it, but vids still wont work on Firefox. Works fine on IE but IE freezes, about 50% of the time, when I try to open RCMF.

Firefox works perfectly with the youtube site itself, its only with the inline link to the video that there is a problem.

Gerry,  to enable this new feature did you install a patch to SMF?  I only ask because I administrate an SMF based forum and we could make use of this feature.  Ta.

It's a SMF package mod http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=595 but I found even though it came up as successfully installed initially it didn't work and I had to install it manually.
