Well it has been over a year in the making but they are finally here!   Over the years ATS Mainline have been selling their Cambria Fun Fighters in kit form a they sell very well. But as we all know most people want ARF's these days.

So with the help of Wilson and his knowledge of the factories in china the ARF Mustang is born.

To bring the mustang up to date and to keep it successful in the Reno 300 racing class (where the Cambrian fun fighters make up over half the planes competing) some minor design changes have had to be implemented.  The main one is the wing section. A very efficient racing section has been used which also has a very soft stall. Also a fiberglass cowl has been employed to make fitting the engine much easier. There are also blocks in the wings and an undercarriage is supplied for those who don’t like hand launching.

Instructions are first class and the planes have gone through some rigorous testing. (Some of the eagle eyed may have noticed I was flying the prototype at a few shows!)

There will be a batch on display at Weston Park whilst the main shipment makes its way here on a boat (takes a month!!)

See pics

(there is a warbird version "old Crow" and an ARTC version not shown)

Tom

we are aiming for £89.00

the original kits were i think £57  and the ARTF comes with wheels tank hinges etc so represents good value for money

it's to keep the yanks happy with their runways  ::)
but we can just leave them off ^-^

heres the old crow, it's my fave of the 3, but the ARTC is brill, gives me a bare airframe for more motorsport inspired schemes  :af

NICE, ARNT THEY?   modtech do a good job,  they are builders of quite a few of our range,    so, its YT quality, for a very cheap price,  these are the first,  hope you all like them,   models will be available from ATS, NOT through us, dont forget,    any questions, ask away, and Dave will sort them  :af,  Mike mayne is also here,  so, you have both guys to answer your questions :af

I flew with the wheels for a while then took them off.  it is a little faster wheels off.

it realy flys nice and true,  i let a couple of the "REDS" fly it and they loved it.  on a calm day i can just about torque roll mine!!  (not brave enough to catch it though :D)

Have been looking forward to these! Definitely alot of model for your money when you consider what you get for 89 quid! hopefully we may have a couple going for weston park. Will certainly cut down on the building required for our slot models! Was amazed at the AUW of the model when i saw it at thames valley. . . .so light, and standard gear to!

i have flown me dads one and it is amazing, nife edge passes, flick rolls, torque roll and does wicked slow slow rolls but what makes it great you can also thro it about very hard and it does not flick on you.the artf are so much quicker and lighter than the kit ones.it was still very good with the  under crackers on,makes it great for landing and taking of and it sat like a real mustang.weve only taken the undercrackers of so the low passes will be low for the shows :af

thought i had better jump in. as dave points out it has been a project started almost a year ago now. the prototype arrived late last year and was thoroughly tested and wrung out. a few mos were made and the main batch arriving in july. there will be a limited number available at weston park and wings and wheels but we may have to limit them till the main batch arrive.
as pointed out they are faithful duplicates of the original Cambria mustangs (used the original plans and dimensions etc.) but as mentioned new wing section, fibreglass cowl and rudder as standard, all up weight 3lb 3ozs with standard servos, battery and reciver. great fly for fun model, great reno 300 class racer ( see www.reno300.com).
we kept them under our hat until we got definite shipping dates so as not to disappoint anyone.
i think produced by Modeltech, tested by Dave Stephens you can't go wrong!! (thanks to both for their considerable input)
Any enquireis please personal e-mail me and i can give you more details

thanks

Mike Mayne

Does this mean that the kits are no longer available? I realise that 'most' people might want ARTF these days, but that doesn't mean 'everyone'. I'd buy one of the kits if still made to suit the OS 32SX I have just bought, but have no interest in an ARTF.

RIGHT GENTLEMEN,
the space in the YT section was offered by us to promote the superb new addition to the world of ARTFs,  not to engage in the general chat of all and sundry,  lets keep on track please,    I will be cleaning this up tonight, and deleting posts not relavant :)

Mike, did you call me and leave a message?  If so, forgive me but I think I may have deleted you in error ....nothing personal!

Perhaps you could drop me an IM. Happy to chat about how we can help ARTF FunFighters on the forum ...usually all that's required is that we are looked after in terms of a raffle/quiz prize at times of need  and you pop in on a regular basis to answer questions and tell us about developments ....just let me know if you fancy an ARTF FunFighter section in the model shop.

the Huri is from the other lot, and a fair few seems to fly very badly for some reason.
i had to test fly one, it was perfectly straight, balanced and trimmed, yet it threw it's self into the floor every launch and the one it did get away it would screw out of every loop. as if i had full aileron and rudder in.  but as i said, built perfect..

something different, Mig 3, LA 9, or P-40, Zero

already half way through designing the Mig-3 funfighter but never finished it

I know you believe you understand what you think i said, but i am not sure you realise that what you think you heard is not what i meant.
