BRC Hobbies
« on: June 01, 2007, 11:20:37 AM »
Is anyone  else  having difficulties contacting them???
Their email is down for the Bank Holiday and I keep getting their Lunchtime message.  :banghead:

I am basically after one of their 300W power sets, but I want to make sure I get the pusher one. They have two listed but don't differentiate which is which.

Does anyone know???

Phil, they are both either pusher or tractor, makes no difference. The difference between the 2 300W sets is the kV rating of the motor, and hence the prop diameter you will be using.

This one:

http://www.brchobbies.co.uk/?page=shop&action=additem&item=565

Is 1000kV and will swing a bigger prop than this one:

http://www.brchobbies.co.uk/?page=shop&action=additem&item=36

Which is 1410kV.

Both are 300W, just applied differently.

What's the model?
I dunno...

Go for the 1410kV set, small er prop, better suited to the wing. And have fun :ev

They will include a nice little data sheet suggesting prop sizes for various cell counts which is really useful too.

Looking forward to it.
nice easy fun, hopefully should be well powered with that motor.
Next thing will be my lipo's wearing out!!  Think they are 3s 1700's

Must also pick up some more 2100's for my Trex, though I have still to assemble that

I must fly mine again...

I have just bought a pack of Maxpoly 2100's which will fit the Trex nicely, and at £30 are much cheaper than the £48 packs of Thunder Power Extreme cells I am using at the moment.
I dunno...

Well the motor set has arrived. Think my eyes might have been a bit bigger than my wing :o Motor looks massive and they recommend a 9x5 prop methinks. Lrgest I think I will be able to fit is an 8x something.  How will this affect the motor.

Larger props draw more current?????

Alan are you flying tomorrow??? ( saturday)

If I get it fitted can you test the wattage for me?? Or should I keep it for something else and get a slightly smaller set???

That sounds perfect Phil ;)
Stick an 8x6 on, it'll be fine.
I am indeed flying tomorrow, so happy to do some measuring if you have Deans fitted..

Has anyone been able to get through - I tried again today this morning and got the out to lunch message again? Is someone from BRC on here to let us know when the best time is to call, as it can't be helping business much...

I called them at 10 when they are supposed to open and they were constantly engaged for another 20 mins Got through (Don't you love BT call back!)  and sorted my duff motor problem with whoever i spoke to. Top bloke!! Mind you i have learned not to buy the cheap stuff!!! Bought an outrunner from their combo range and it was cheap but when delivered i could hardly turn the outrunner as it was binding tightly against the inner body (bit the mount screws to). When looking at the motor in profile the outrunner outer body was at an angle. Offered free postage replacement no problem but went for equiv AXI instead. You only really know how good a company is until you have a problem and BRC are very good  :af

Well I love the products and prices but boy are they hard to get hold of....

Got a Speed controller a couple of weeks ago that doesn't seem to work and I wanted to chat to them about that, but also....

Which of their motor and esc combo's for...

1    A GWS Formosa, they do a 150 Watt ( I think) on a stick mount, so would that fit straight on??? - Formosa is still in the box so I haven't looked at the nose to closely

2   A low wing aerobatic thingy that should be powered with a .25 glow. Would like it semi hooligan with 3S lipo, so I'm thinking one of the 300 Watt jobbies, but which one ...

Got a whole week off work and we still can't fly due to foot and mouth. Got lots of building and fixing to do..
Aiming to do the ASW glider aileron mod, YT Twister build and probably the formosa.

Hi Ohil, being off the field is a real PITA, I have all next week off too! No ideas what's up with BRC at the moment, they should have recovered from the show at the weekend...

Strange to hear you say that - I visited my lhs the other weekend and asked them how well they had been doing - partly because of all the doom and gloom we hear about. Basically they said it couldn't be better - best year ever!

But their direction has changed in recent years - its cars, boats and thoose annoying mini electric helicopters. They stock plenty of servo's etc - but that is about it really.

I rang Gary yesterday... must admit without the redial facility it may have taken longer to get through... and despite me hardly knowing anything about electric flight a nice box turned up here at 09.30 with everything I need to electrify my model, so tonight I am unavailable to callers....

12 out of 10 for BRC Hobbies from me...
