Hello All.

I'm on the scrounge on behalf of a new club member.

His name is Jack Heaven and he is 9. His mum bought him to our club night as he is mad on learning to fly.
Grandad has built him a trainer and mum has bitten the bullet and paid his club fees. I've just recieved an e-mail to say Jack has been running round all day proudly showing off his "pilots licence"

Mum was shocked to discover the price of all the other bits and pieces needed, but like all mums she wants to see her son get his dreams.

I have already donated some servos and a reciever, fuel tank, tubing, leads, and I'm sure we can lend him most of the starting gear he needs till he gradually gets his own.

What Im asking is - has anyone got any gear they dont want that they are prepared to give away or sell real cheap?
He is after;
an engine - 40/46 la or similar
Rx Battery
Transmitter

I know some may read this and maybe think "cheeky bu**er" - I dont care .....not everyone has loads of spare money.

Please have a quick mooch through your old gear.

Jez.

It was goin great till it crashed!!

What size prop would suit that engine? I've probably got some here that he'd be welcome to.

I will have a root through the shed tomorow (bit dark and wet now) and see if I can come up with some starting gear for him.  You are only in Brum (?) so not a million miles away ,if I find anything we can meet somewhere and you can have it  :af

Guys Thank you....

Yes please to any starting gear - I m happy to collect from Bham area.

Al - charger(not thought of that one!!) and pair of crystals - wonderful!!

I guess if anyone has a field battery or glowstick, fuel pump then we are almost at a point where we can give Jack the full kit and caboodle.

I'm gonna see if I can get this generosity mentioned in the BMFA mag and maybe the Mags too.

It takes a lot to put tears in my eyes - but bugger me you lot have done it tonight!!

Thanks - Jez

This is lovely, such generosity. And if the lad proves to have the knack wouldn't it be the icing on the cake if someone like Al's Hobbies or Ripmax for example took up the cudgel and sponsored the lad to greater levels.

wow, what a lovely lot of people you are !    ::cc   Jack and I have come a long way in 6 days from when he first got the plane from Matt at greenacres flying weekend (thank you Matt).     :af

We hadn't got a clue    :o about anything to do with model planes and went to the club to see what we had to do to get it "off the ground" at a reasonable cost for Jack who is 8.  The response has been incredible. Thanks   ::cc

I feel as if we have entered another world and certainly found a fabulous community of people.

Jack says "thank you everyone I can't wait to fly my plane"   :af :af ::)
