Guys, Tony is now back home in the UK.  Eleven days of enforced bed-rest in an excellent Spanish hospital has worked wonders.  He has never looked so well.

Here’s to a speedy recovery, mate.  :af :af :af

Blimey chap’s, I am a bit overwhelmed by all the good wishes from you all. Thanks.

I initially went to Spain for a 7 day break, on the second day I was suffering severe stomach pains and internal bleeding (No, it was not Ralph’s cooking). I was taken to the local A&E dept where my experience was one of absolute amazement, within 30 minutes I was being very thoroughly examined (by a very nice female Doctor). I was promptly wired up for a cardiograph followed by blood samples, blood pressure etc,  I was then admitted and taken to the ward for a few day’s of tests.

I was put on a drip for two days followed by various internal examinations (enough about that) x-rays, ultra scan’s etc followed. A diagnosis was given and I was put on a course of medication.

I was then very shocked and worried when my Doctor informed me that they had discovered some “spots” on my liver, they were going to arrange a ct-scan and a biopsy.  Oh no! I don’t believe this, I would not have been surprised if I had a spot on a lung as I had been a smoker until a couple of years ago. I have never been a drinker and there is a problem with my liver…. Ironic aye.

Anyway it turned out that the spots were cyst’s that I was probably born with 60 odd years ago and harmless, I felt as though I had won the lottery and I did not really want to leave all my planes to Brian Cooper anyway.    ;)

After a 12 day stay I was discharged, feeling very overwhelmed and emotional about the kindness and superb care and attention I had received from the hospital staff and my friends in Spain.

Did I have a ruined holiday?  No Way!

I had received treatment as good as any private hospital, the five course meals I had received were as good as any high class restaurant, my medical problems were sorted in days rather than months, and I did not get MRSA.

My only wish now is that should I ever fall ill again, I hope it happens in Spain.

Once again chaps, a big thanks for all the good wishes.

Tony
