I have been very patient and 'things come to those who wait'. Well I have waited and it has come in one very big box. Point of interest it is unlikely this kit can be posted, it ways 20kg packaged and measures in at nearly 2000mms long and 750mm wide. There are not many carriers will take a package that size without charging the earth.

The quality is something else, it is very difficult to describe apart from very very impressive. Just come a long to the Nats and drool

well  got to the nats,  saw it for the first time, then pissed wilson off by diving into the box and pulling all the bits out like it was 4am on christmas morning, COR!!  oh god its gorgeous,  nearly wore it out getting it out the box showing it to folk,  even dragging them in from walking past the endless all-look-the-same ARTF stalls,

cowls are massive, it would take perol no bother,  and the new RCV 130 will be, i think, cobbed into martins one,  if i had a field that would take it, i would have had one,   but then,  where the hell am i going to fly the tiffy, and stuka that sme git packed into the back of me car?? :D

Would two saito R90's fit inside the cowl or perhaps the larger radials? the 170 maybe? Couldn't afford this option myself but it's good fun spending someone else's money  :af

J.E. have the ASP 64cc Radial on their monthly offers - go on, you know it makes sense. :af  http://www.justengines.unseen.org/monthly.htm

cowls are too small for these motors,      now then, wonder if the 3 cylinder ones are small enough? :ev

but seriously,   simple motors in a twin,  simple as possible, and ULTRA reliable

Here is my argument Zenoah 20 plus ignition plus nicad using standard silencer 1158g x 2 = 2316g (91.2oz, 5.7lb), Saito 125's 620g x 2 = 1240g, (48.8oz, 3lb). yes the Zenoah will use less fuel and arguably the Zenoah's should be more reliable, but any glow engined not leaned to it's max normally dont stop until the fuel runs out.

Hi Martin,

But how much lead will have to go up front to balance the model anyway? Methinks your argument is a bit of the old swings & roundabouts :xx

Whilst the Zenoah or any other engine when installed forward of the CG will assist to achieve the correct CG. With the Tigercat setup or any other wing mounted twin, the engines are some way from being the most forward part of the plane. The Tigercat's nose is about 18" forward of most of the engines mass, therefore I was able to limit the amount of lead required to 12oz.

First saw this ' in the glass' at the Hop farm when Dizz and i stopped by the YT stand, wilson and the team were kind enough to show me the cat and other projects in detail. . . . .i cannot believe the standard of workmanship and finishing in the 'cat' !! gobsmacked by its beauty!! . . . . then the knockout was the price!! HOW THE H!$L CAN THEY MAKE SOMETHING SO GOOD! . . . SO CHEAP!! I have therefore decided that it will become the meaning of my continued existence to have one of these! have always had a passion for the tigercat but have not seen a decent model of it. . . .until now! the YT team have answered my prayers! Looking forward to the sea vixen to, serving in the fleet air arm this would be a must have! . . . . .but the cat comes first!!!

Boo Hoo Hoo I wanted to fit 2x Saito 170r in my Tigercat but they will not quite fit in :'( . The 90r will not be powerful enough so it looks like back to plan A which is 2x Zenoah 20's. These maybe be a little on the heavy side but i feel the aircraft will be fine with the little extra weight, and they should be reliable which is paramount. I know putting 2x single 120 will be half the weight but having ran a Zenoah 20 they are ace motors.
Cheers Richard. :af

I'm going to use a pair of ZG 20 EI's in my T'cat too.
Petrols are so much better to operate tha glowengines.

Here's a link to a guy in Germany who's using 2 x ZG26 in his T'cat:
http://www.warbirdforum.de/forum/thread.php?threadid=10071&sid=f06744be9ae589e346e1b46422491cf3
I could have used those, but there will be too many bits sticking out.

I have a slight problem with the nose gear.
On the mains there are two holes drilled and tapped for the setscrews holding the oleo in place.
The nosegear unit has no such holes.
Am I missing something here, or do I need to drill and tap suitable holes?

Dont forget the nose leg is steerable. On the oleo there is a steel pin with a cap on one end and is held into the oleo by two grub screws. Remove the steel pin pass in through the nose leg retract and re secure in the oleo. The oleo will now rotate and held in place by the steel cap and the oleo.

Aha!
I knew there was something that I was missing, now that's what that thingie was for.
That figures.

Thanks, you just saved me from the embarrasment of getting a fixed noseleg.

Those of you who are putting one of these together and are considering larger engines than suggested (2 x 91 four strokes).
Please bear this in mind, the prototype was flown on two RCV 91CD's final weight 22lb, one recently test flown in the States powered by two RCV90SP's final weight 22.5lb. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4814227/mpage_21/key_/tm.htm

It does not need much more power than this, if at all, bigger engines add more weight and the extra weight is not in the ideal position on this warbird(should be as far forward as possible).

Here's how the ZG20 should look like, head on:

Some pieces goes out:

Engine mount and bolts, carb insulation block and choke extension

and some go in instead:

Carb intake bend

This will reduce the engine's width on that side from 106 mm to only 73 mm.
Now the engine will fit almost completely inside the TigerCats cowling. Only the exhaust and the ignition plug cap will have to go outside.

Well, I still think I shall be putting 2x Zenoah 20 in mine. I do not think the extra weight will be a problem. I do like that snazzy z bend!!   It will be intresting to see how the two engine configurations compare in overall weight and flight performance.  Game on!  :''   Richard. :af
