Those of you who are putting one of these together and are considering larger engines than suggested (2 x 91 four strokes).
Please bear this in mind, the prototype was flown on two RCV 91CD's final weight 22lb, one recently test flown in the States powered by two RCV90SP's final weight 22.5lb. You are not allowed to view links.

It does not need much more power than this, if at all, bigger engines add more weight and the extra weight is not in the ideal position on this warbird(should be as far forward as possible).

Here's how the ZG20 should look like, head on:
    http://www.rc-flight.com/catalog/images/Photos/IMG_4437x.JPG
    YT Tiger Cat

    Some pieces goes out:
    http://www.rc-flight.com/catalog/images/Photos/IMG_4435x.JPG
    YT Tiger Cat

Engine mount and bolts, carb insulation block and choke extension

    and some go in instead:
    http://www.rc-flight.com/catalog/images/Photos/IMG_4436x.JPG
    YT Tiger Cat

    Carb intake bend

This will reduce the engine's width on that side from 106 mm to only 73 mm.
Now the engine will fit almost completely inside the TigerCats cowling. Only the exhaust and the ignition plug cap will have to go outside.

Well, I still think I shall be putting 2x Zenoah 20 in mine. I do not think the extra weight will be a problem. I do like that snazzy z bend!!!   It will be intresting to see how the two engine configurations compare in overall weight and flight performance.  Game on!  Whistle   Richard.

lol, I wouldn't bet any money against Phil but could it be related to what mark of plane you have?

Early Thunderbolts had fabric covered control surfaces but later had aluminium.

maybe it's an excuse to go too DX tomorrow

I think you are some months too late for that...   last I saw of that cat it was heading west after take off from BIRK.

Just been on the rc universe forum on F-7F tigercat page 21 and seen the saito 170's in the cowls!!  It also appears that all the models flown so far come out at similar weight, whether using Rcv 91's or Zenoah 26. If you have to have loads of lead upfront you might as well have engine weight etc. I think I will go the Radial route now. She will sound ace ::cc

Have I misread the building instructions, or are the gear doors (mains) not functional, and that you are supposed to hack some appropriate opening to let the oleo and wheel pass through?

    Hi,
More food for thought: here is a pic of a KMP Tigercat, equipped with two Zenoa G-26s. Model can be found on RC Universe, has completed two successful flights. Recently replaced the G-26 powerplant in my Balsa USA 1/4 scale Fokker D-VIII with a tired Enya 120FS   Whistle result-the Enya flew the D-VIII very well. IMHO, the G-26s definately will not overpower the KMP Tigercat!
BTW, same engines mounted in the KMP Bearcat have only the plug wire emerging in the bottom cooling opening.

Going back to original intention, putting Zenoah 20's back in!!!  Just bought another plane!!!!  Whistle more expence     also got reservations about fitment of R170's within cowls and relibility,  compared to Zenoah's. Plus 2x R170 is £1100.00!!!!  Spoke to Glen models thinks the Zenoah 20's would be a better bet than 26's.  Start building next week. ::cc    Richard.
