dive test it will tuck under and dive vertically indicating tail heavy.  Add small amount of lead to the nose and it flies worse

did you try it inverted Simon? I wonder if the dive test will tell you much at all with such a long nose and close coupled air frame!

Come on, the wind was 30mph easy!  I was a bit staggered by it - I must be getting soft after so many days indoors.

I was excited to see the Tigershark fly today - it's a celebrity plane - that modern sort of celebrity like Jordan, ie not justified by actual qualities!

Not quite sure you could call it flying.  The best way I can describe it is that the Tigershark flew like a concrete frisbee.  I don't think any of the usual plane physics was involved - no lift generated by wings or anything like that.  It just happened that the staggering lift was pushing the object up at about the same speed as it was plummeting.  A roof slate would have flown the same!  It looked great actually, a kind of weird defiance of gravity.

All the planes were really shifting in those conditions so I don't think I caught any on aerial video - except maybe the Tigershark - if I did I'll post a short vid.

So many delicate mouldies, so much brutal wind, zero crashes - that's impressive flying.  Except for poor Jiberjaber's bad luck launching the Alex into the ground.  How frustrating to break a near-new plane within one second of launch.

Hi Folks.  Had a good fly sesh at Minster today. Flew for a couple of hours and for most of it I was the only one there!  A fellow Fox flier joined me later (sorry, forgotten your name!) and we had Fox Formation Flying!
I tried out my keyfob cam for the first time and I must say im well impressed for the money!  Got some great footage which ill make into a video soon.
Thought my day was ruined when I landed (crashed) the Fox into a thorny hedge and when I went to pick it up the camera had vanished!
Thought id lost it forever but after about an hour looking for a tiny black blob amongst dense foliage I found it!
Eventually left about 4 coz I couldnt feel my fingers any more.  :af

Today's keycam files won't play.  I get this message - anyone had this? - it worked last time I used it:

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

I've not had that... yet!
You could try...

Import it into Windows Movie maker and see if you can edit it / create a movie into a different format.
or
download a recent codec pack for Windows Media Player like K-lite codec pack.

Best of luck :)

No I didn't Paul - silly me.  Although I was pretty much flying around trying to stay up so I suspect I would have lost all the height I'd painfully gained in a nanosecond inverted!

I flew the Discus inverted quite a bit - it's quite a novelty for me to be flying upside down and still going up in the powerful lift!

That's similar to what I'm getting.  Nothing will play mine, not movie maker or windows media player or the apple media player.  It's weird given that it's worked before.

Well I got home at 8 o'clock... I flew till about 17:15 then started packing up then went for a walk up the path to take in the sun set.

I have left the gliders in the car, havent got the heart to look at the Alex at the moment.... serves me right for attempting a two handed launch and then fighting to get the controller LOL  on reflection I think I could have saved it if I had turned it down wind.  Wings seem OK, fus broke in the middle of the tail boom... I think it is repairable, but I might put it away for a couple of weeks till I have the right mind set... it was going epic as well... far far faster than the Aldij.

I just couldnt get the AJ any faster today, even when I nearly speced it out and then a full dive it just hit a terminal speed and wouldnt go any faster.  Made some nice wooshes as it came past with the slightest of squeels.... what I need is a noiser glider LOL

Steve, on your scale of lift measurement, this was 1,000,000,000 out of ten  :nananana: You realy should see about getting yourself along to it with that Whisper.

I think Gary might have some pictures of my attempt to launch the Fusion, must have been getting on for 10 attempts before it stayed up.  No idea why but it just wanted to cuddle the grass.

Si - I have a 16 min air to air vid clip of your Discus (well a couple of seconds within that  ;D)

Off to sort out the stills from today, might post them up later.

Mine plays ok on Windows Media Player but Movie maker doesnt want to know. Very strange considering there both Windows products!
Hopefully someone out there will enlighten us!

Wow you few the turbulent part of bopeep in a 30mph I bet the air was bounce at the ridge of the bowl ?
I would have either walked 500years further to the nice bowl of 500 years in the other direction of the carpark

Im assuming you flew from where the red spot is?
I fly where the blue spots are

oh and while i have bopeep map out the yellow spot is where my Brio hit the trees and the pink is where I found her stuck in the field

Chaps we're now up to 213 pages of messages in this thread - no technical issue with that - just wondered if you wanted to start a South East Flyers II topic or even a child board of your own?

214 with that post!  :D

dont think the south east flyers II idea is very good, but MAYBE the childboard, but personally i think it should just stay as it is...  :co

what do ya think chaps?

wow that must of been good! i must admit i do like a bit of scale! i do like aerobatic but i think that scale jobbys (especially the discus) look so nice in the sky, and they do fly awesome, but only in the right conditions... i wish i was there yesterday to fly mine, but i dont think mum will be taking me that far! i did think at first there may be a tiny speck of hope of mum taking me there and then i looked on the aa route finder at the distance... nuff said :'(

Wiz, is there a way to delete the oldest posts so that it's always 100 pages long?

Clearly 213 pages is silly, but if we always had the last 100 pages that would be perfect.

Yes Allen, it was turbulent flying near the carpark, but there was so much lift it didn't matter too much, there was no risk of being dashed into the ground.

I normally fly a few hundred yards further eastwards, but when I arrived the guys were flying near the carpark, and I couldn't remember why I usually walk further! Doh!

Definitely up for a barbie sesh once the wind is less bitter.

Jiberjaber, how do you get such good pics?  Is your camera a lot better at focusing than mine or are you just better at taking 'em?!

Yep - the SLR helps so does the post processing of the picture in raw format.  I picked them out of 350 shots from yesterday... I can be quite trigger happy, but this doesn't make for quality LOL
