after my misshap on Monday trying to land  the flamingo on its rear end, it has now been  reattached  just got to respray the fuzz and away we go again  :af you were right paul it didn't take too much to get it together again, had some great flying though, the Vector flew like it should, anyone that's thinking of buying one, dont think just buy it  :af

That's a shame Col, was it a senior moment?

I was up Holly Hill on Wed. and it was OK, I Alula'd & Wildy'd, there was no one else there but it was still good.

If it ain't FOAM ---- I don't want it ! (Unless it's a Butler like Si's got !) or a Taboo DLG !

I wish you chaps would join Wrotham - I miss you and the wind looks directly southerly this pm!

Did you retrieve that motor from the bin Paul?!

Si

"Join Wrotham", is it an exclusive club site?

Wrotham is a slope in Kent Tony that you can only fly on if you are member of the Invicta Model Flyers club - it's not "exclusive" in so far as anyone can join who has £19!  It's a very good slope though (better lift than Thurhnam IMHO) and it is best with a direct Southerly which Thurhnam won't work on, so it gives a useful bit of flexibility

19 quid seems quite expensive though if your only going to fly off the single slope... HoH is 20 quid and includes insurance in with that..

Do you have a map link to the location?

Are you sure, you'd save that in fuel in a couple of round trips Jason !

Ah... but when I go to HoH I am usualy visiting my family up there so no great shakes... :)

Eric - thanks for the info on the Algebra.  I have been told I may have to inject some epoxy in to the wings as the veneer might have delaminated off the foam...  not too keen on that mess on though.

No ailerons on it as stands, but I think I could cut some, the instructions provided cover both RE(S)  and REA.  hmmmm

I realy should go and build something as I have the rest of the day off and its blowing a gale here so the heli is grounded.  Shame I dont live nearer Kent else I would have popped down.  I dont fancy the M25 later on though so staying at home today.

Think I will have a think about cutting the grass then go and think about some balsa bashing, then have a lie down after all that thnking...

I think I'll have to do it Simon, especially as I drive right past the slope at least twice a week.

With the lighter evenings on the way, it would be galling to see you guys up there as I drive past on the M26 on my way back from Surrey.

Too many models to list - If I did they'd take up the whole page!

I think Steve says it takes him about 25 mins less time from Essex....

Hey, we could create a 2nd Thurhnam at this rate!!

He must drive pretty slow then, I'm surprised there is that much of a difference. I've done the whole journey from my place to Thurnham in just over 40mins.

Not such great pics at Colley Hill this evening, Leebert.  Too dark, meaning the shutter speed wasn't fast enough to avoid blur.  At least you had a laugh trying to fly the plane between us!

Those photos are great Gary  :af  I think a bit of motion blur adds to them.
Considering the conditions, I'm surprised I managed to fly in the right place at the right time without hitting either of us - it was very turbulent!

Well went down to our local sw slope.
Lift was ok, but rapidly started to go west.
Had around a 40 min flight with my F3F Extreme with 8 pieces of ballast in.
Wasnt moving all that fast, but I had some fun with it none the least.

Did some half pipes to build up the energy and a few fast runs.

Simon told me that just an hour before I got there his extreme was wanging around like no-ones business.

Should of got there earlier !

Today Matthew I am going to be wing section MH32.

I decided it was a bit blustery Gary, so no, I didn't.  I'm really pleased you've joined - it's a great slope but a bit lonely!

I would say a pure Southerly is best, but do SSW and SSE...
The thing I like about it is the lack of the mental barrier (aka fence) and I think it's higher so you can fly your model below the horizon with ease

Thanks Simon.  I live in the flat part of Kent & last slope soared before I moved here 26 years ago.  The weather is no less frustrating now than it was then!!

Blast, I missed it as well.

Wasn't able to get there until about 5:30 just as DaveM, the last of the afternoon shift, was about to leave.

The other Eric and I arrved for the early evening shift with our WTs, so Dave decided to stay on as well and we carried on flying until about 6:30pm by which time is was nearly dark and B-cold.

Anyway it was nice to get out of the office for a while and blow the cobwebs away.

Any of you guys want to sell your fusions/wildthings
my boy is ready to go it alone and I'm worried my Gulp would not take a full on nose dive like a fusion would
or maybe a swap for the Gulp ?

Fly it Like it's Stolen
Land it like it's Borrowed

Hi Guys,  We were flying there until about 6:30pm last night John, but remember to bring some gloves as there's quite a wind chill.

I'll be up there from about 3pm to maiden a couple of models, so a hand with launching would be appreciated.

I've got the Czech Samba Models 'Kobra' F3F that needs some air under its wings and a Highlight 'Betty', also a mouldie, this time from Bulgaria.

Interestingly on the Samba Models website the Kobra is listed under the OLD category - just right for me then!  ;) :-\ Another point of interest for this model is that a guy in Norway has flown one at over 300 mph, not that I'll be doing that at Thurnham!

See you there?

Eric

Which 'flat part of Kent' do you live in Tony, as having slope soared all over the county since the early 70s, there's a good chance that I can direct you to a slope or two local to you that you and others may not be aware of. These may be in a different wind direction to Thurnham and Wrotham, so giving you more opprtunities to get slope time under your belt.

Ah yes of course, the Acacia 3 is your serious model now ... it'll be fun to fly the elec Alex and elec Banana together some time ... for a heavy weather model I suggest the new larger Jart, a snip at just $565 ...

You'll leave the Alex standing Gary, I'm only pulling about 13amps with a 2s pack, it's a very light weight low power setup. On the plus side my 800mah pack lasted me the whole of Saturday afternoon last week.

As for the lead sled, that'll be an own design.
