I have to go down to Harrietsham tomorrow to view a pre-WW1 chassis, and it's a continued Easterly forecast, so might swing on round to Butts Brow before returning to Bromley, anybody else likely to be there??

I advertised this old Ripmax hotliner (the one I used at the Chailey comp) on BMFA Classifieds, and it was snapped up within hours ... that BMFA ads site really works.

Yes, I've sold quite a bit of stuff there too - great that it's free!

Something with a V tail?...

That was my first thought too.  But unless the tail is detached from the fuz then the "V" is in the wrong place!  More likely to be a conventional tail then? $%&

Remember, up is up, and down is down.  Except when inverted - when down is up, and up can be very expensive

A lot of gliders have removable tails... specially the big f3f ships...

I'm probably going to enter the F3F comp at East Sussex Soarng Assoc tomorrow.  Any idea what plane I should fly out of Erwin, Jart, Banana or Minimoa?  (Minimoa just kidding!)

I guess the Erwin is the logical choice.  But that Banana, that can shift, and I dare to fly it harder ... then again, if it's really turbulent the steady old Jart might even be competitive ... decisions, decisions ...

I think (without finding/seeing the pic again, so only memory to work on) it was a plane I was in touching distance of on Friday, in the hangar at Headcorn.

If so, it's now been forced to display it's std GB Reg, G-SOCT, and it's a Yak 50 made in 1984.........

It's all coming together now - I'd always wondered where the Hole of Horcum is and hadn't got round to Googling it. I've just looked at your photos and it's all coming back to me.

When I was doing a touring holiday 'up north' in the early 70's, I think it was 1972, I came across this excellent bowl on the North Yorks moors and spent a day soaring there on my own with my Phase Two and Mini-Phase.

I've told many people over the years what an excellent site it is and hadn't realised until now that it was the famous HoH - thanks Jason for enlightening me.  :af

PS -  I was most probably flying there before you were born!!

Conditions at the F3F facing at Eastbourne today were ... er ... well, think of a polite word for awful.  Wind way off the slope, intermittent showers, cold as a cold thing ... maybe organised events and me just don't go together ...

Depends on when in 1972 it was Eric ;)

The last day of the Nationals today, wind was far far better and I managed to break my PB 3 times, so it is now down to 47 and a bit seconds.  I also narrowly missed decapitating myself which also got me 100 penalty points.  I didn't know anything about it until I felt the glider over the top of my head out of a turn -  it all went that quick in the compression zone! - that was my fastest run of the event as well.  Another foot and I probably wouldn't be typing this.  You think we do close low fast passes at Thurnaham, take that and times it by 10!  I lost my mojo somewhat after that, mostly due to needing a new pair of pants!

There was nearly a new HoH record, a 32.27 but didnt manage to beat Richard Bago's 32 second run a few months ago..

I am sure the results will be out at some point... needless to say unfortunately I came last :( Simon T did very well (Second I think) and Martin (also from the area) was in the top 10 from memory.

Paul - your little friend decided to prove he was having a whale of a time in Whitby and enjoyed some fish and chips by the sea.

You ought to have let me know you were heading in that direction, I would have come along as well to enjoy the fresh sea breezes.

As it was I went to Holly Hill and I was 'Billy no mates' - wind was at 45 deg to slope and although it worked OK it was a bit bumpy. Holly wasn't on her best form today!   :'(
