I have been testing this for nearly a Year now so I thought this would be a good time to release it

Simply double click to install to Your Windows Vista Sidebar (32bit or 64bit)
right click on it to set the options, enter your user name and password, click OK and wait for a few seconds while it initialises a connection.
Simply right click on the picture below and select "Save Target as" or "Save link as" to download.

RCMF Sidebar Gadget

A slight issue of not recognising some User names with Upper case letters in them has now been fixed! This is fully functional again.

I didn't work

Installed OK but after inserting username and password (correctly - tried 3 times) it comes back with:-
"Error, Your Username and/or Password were incorrect, check and try again"

In that case, You entered the wrong details

either that or I forgot to alter something

There's only room to enter my username on the flyout not my password as well what am I doing wrong?

Got the side bar up Gerry,logged in and came up with user name,no pms and 3 users in chat,after a couple of min error on user name or password comes up???

I tried 6 times and just tried again. It still says "Error, Your Username and/or Pasword were incorect, check and try again"

I think I can answer that one. (Been there, done that

) At a guess you've got a big screen with a high resolution and at some time you've increased the windows font size to make it readable.
Try - Right Click on blank bit of desktop. Select Personalize on the menu that comes up. In the window that comes up under 'Tasks' (top left) select 'Adjust font size' - Select the default. Reboot and try again.

Mines ok now,just tried different permutations and after using upper case letters at start of each word in user name became all hunky dory!!
Er what do I use it for now

Gerry lost the RCMF logo off the side bar,got the weather for my location and the clock still,entered gadgets and clicked on RCMF info and naff all,any ideas???

I got the zip file and unzipped it, but can't do anything with it. If I double click on the gadget.xml file it simply lists the file in my IE8 window.
What am I missing? or what should I be doing?

OK Winchweight- sussed it

Take the rcmf.zip file and unzip it to c:/users/<user name>/ App Data/Microsoft/windows sidebar/rcmf
Rename rcmf to rcmf.gadget
then go to the sidebar, click to add gadgets and rcmf should appear in your list of gadgets
Ddouble click on the rcmf gadget and it will install to your sidebar
Right click on the sidebar rcmf gadget and select options to enter your rcmf details

Off you go (on the next Vista startup)

It's not a zip file! You simply double click the gadget to install it. If it's opening with winzip there is an error in Your default program setting for opening this type of file and it needs resetting to open with Windows sidebar

Your supposed to rub it on your chest at your age paul (Vic)

There are ports of the sidebar available for XP, I'll see if I can locate a good one and put a link up to it.

Hi Gerry
I've checked, double checked and checked again, my default association for .gadget files is Windows Sidebar, but when I double click on the gadget above, a second browser opens and Vista asks me whether to open, save or close rcmf.zip.
Tried it several times - always the same.
Using the method I gave above - the gadget loaded in to the sidebar but continues to display Connecting to server.
I guess I'll keep trying different things to see if I can make it work
BTW I'm on Vista Ultimate with full security selected

Whenever I open it, it just treats it as a zip file and unzips it to m downloads folder. I tried dragging the unzipped files to the Gadgets folder, but it doesn't show up.

Or You could try right clicking on the file and selecting "properties" then try running in compatibility mode for vista.

Sorted.

Changed it so that it would open with WinZip. Extracted it to a temporary location.

Renamed it to rcmf.Gadgets. Copied to the Gadgets folder.

Have it on my desktop, just waiting to see if it works....

Well it is sitting on my desktop waiting to connect to the server which may take 30seconds!!!
