Confimation that the wasp kit will be priced at £39.99 plus postage (details below)

The kits are the same as the original wasp constructed from lightply, but with the advantage of being CNC cut. This has allowed the use of fixing tabs, making alignment quick and easy on the fuselauge and formers.
The wing set is the same as the wasp kit youve seen in Stueysheep's build thread, and already up for sale at cloud models.   Everything included, leading/trailing edge, wing caps, servo covers and full instructions.
There is a hardware pack included, this includes everything from control hinge horns, mylar hinging, wing bolt, 4 metal pushrods etc etc.
There is also dowel supplied for the elevator pushrod.
Not shown in this kit, phil has agreed to supply 4x  3mmx15mm bolts and captive nuts to mount the motor on with,  the motor mount will have the motor mount holes cnc cut including the hole for the motor wires to go through.
The kit is as complete as we could possibly do it, we still have a couple of areas to look at, and to complete the build instructions, once all thats done and were happy she'll be ready and up for sale at cloud models You are not allowed to view links.

    as soon as.

The IC version will be ready shortly afterwards and Phils looking at making it a complete kit as well, inc engine mount, tank etc

A few pic's below, and ill post a couple of the build, I wont do a build thread but the build instructions will be availible to download from You are not allowed to view links.

Im concidering that at the moment Dunc.
ive done a hatch on one plane but its presented a problem where the s/c lives as most have attached it somewhere underneath the top deck, not quite sure how you mean arming the s/c.!!
s/c been left attached and a conventional switch has been used for the reciever power to arm/disarm.
The biggest problem i found was if you needed to change the speed controller it involved removing the motor to allow access to the bullet connectorsbetween motor and s/c with a small top hatch it allowed easy access for quick change overs.........but presents a problem in the s/c location as i dont want it to sit loose on top of the battery.......so still working on that one at the moment
The original battery hatch on the bottom front deck was a great iedia to save wing removal, but was impractical.

ok, it wasnt a turborex one was it..........mine are dead if the recievers not on.......but even with that i dont plan to make it live untill the previous race is down before connecting the battery and bolting the wing on, that was why i did the wing with just one bolt fixing to speed it up.

i remember when some of the first cheap electric gliders come on the market they had arming switches, is it possible to get a dedicated arming swith that kills everything with the battery still connected

    cheers

Does that mean a medal  Roll Eyes  Grin

Waiting for some adjusted cnc parts to arrive to complete the kit alterations.
I think ive got it all sussed now.

The front bulkhead will now have the central hole cut for the rear motor shaft to fit through, 1 vent hole (if not needed simply iron the covering over)will be added and 1 for the motor wires, either hole can be used for either pupose,
the 4 motor mount holes will be cut, and 4 x 3mm x 10mm bolts and captive nuts will be supplied

There will also be 2 slot vents on the top front deck for cooling, again if not needed dont remove and cover over when you do the covering.

Access to the s/c motor bullet connectors there will be a small hatch (otherwise it is remove the motor to get access)on the front bottom deck, again if its not needed dont remove it and cover over when covering

s/c will sit on a simple saddle at the top underneath the top deck, no velcro fitting needed, allows maximun cooling if the vents are used and keeps the s/c out of the way.

wing bolt securing plate will now have the hole cut for the captive nut

c of g range will also be marked on the fuselauge sides as an easy guide

If done in the right sequence with a bottle of cyno i did the first one complete in under an hour, so hopefully ive made it as bullet proof as possible
ill post the pics when its made and get a flying video done some time next week

    cheers

    Kit is nearlly ready,

A few pics showing the bulkhead cutouts, top front deck cooling holes, shown cut out in the photo or keep and cover over if not needed,
Bottom front deck showing access hole for s/c motor connectors, again if not needed leave in and cover over
Wing seating is as near perfect as you can get.

last pic there are 4 x 1mm holes, thease are c of g markings...45,50,55,60 to make life a little easier, there is another reason for this as later on the will be a small c of g jig which will be availible as an extra at a later date, it has been designed specificly to fit thease holes but can still be used on any plane.... it will be cnc cut and come on a sheet to be assembled, call me tight but i had a shock at the price of c of g jigs that are commercially availible

Im taking a look at a really boring finish on the first one, as the plane assembles easilly and neatlly im going to try a clear varnish finish, i think stu's and justins carbon kevlar type films cost about £30,00 to do a plane and about £20.00 plus for profilm, its an experiment to keep the cost down, a possible £60,00 saving on 2 planes, not to be sniffed at in todays financial climate, yeah a little boring but a few stickers and some couloured stripes, good enough for a race tool and most look black in the sky anyway, unless youre justin youll be able to see the rivots as it pass's Grin Grin

Hopefully i may have it done in time to fly sat

    cheers

Right im totally finished with it now, planes built instructions done, just waiting for the final ok from phil then its up for sale from You are not allowed to view links.
    Register or Login
    Home

Ever break a wing or want a spare just order the wing kit, its exactlly the same one

I did the boring finish, total cost was £6 for a can of polyurethane satin varnish spray from B&Q and was enough for 3 coats on all of it.
its taken me 1 long day to complete and that included wrighting the instructions

Complete fuzz and wing weighed in at 1lb dry and a throw everthing on the scales showed 2lb 3 oz, 1 oz under the weight limit so a bigger reciever battery needed

Ive never been so sick of making the same plane over and over and the hours its taken to develop it,  Grin Grin but enjoyed the learning curve.
The c2k version will follow a couple of weeks later and the next on the list is the c of g jig and then the  Dadger Q500 424 and 428 based on the same construction as the wasp

A big thanks to Phil at Cloud models for his help in getting this off the ground and keeping

it a reasonable price         and keeping it British  UK UK
If Vata gets one then the e2k wasp is in 7 different countries

    Hope you guys enjoy

Typical radio instalation, s/c can been seen sitting on its saddle to keep it out the way and near the cooling vents.

Ive got the first c2k wasp model from cloud models today, 99% of the build is the same as the e2k version.
Engine mount bolts and blind nuts are supplied, but Cloud have decided not to supply the engine mount or tank as everone has thiere own preference so the price will be kept the same as the e2k version of £39.99 plus P&P
The wing kit is the same for e2k and c2k (rg14) so interchangable if you have both planes.

Ive got the instructions modification to do, once thats done and were happy with it Cloud models will add it to thiere web site,  unfortuanatly ive got the kit too late in the day to get it flying for sunday, but well do a video back at the home field when its done

The kit will be supplied as the e2k version for 2 ailerons but i will add instructions for those that want to use one servo and torque rods

ill post some pics when done later in the club 2000 threads

    cheers
