cheers matt......

let's see how i get on with this 1/4 scale one first.......cutting the rocker arms this morning.......there's some other bits as well to make....exhaust for one.....

scaling up the parts in CAD is easy...and the cutting to some degree........but the problem is what to charge? ......would enough people want them?.......cost effective?.......what would the kit compose of?......copyright?
someone else could make a mould of what i've done and sell them.....the same goes for the corsair stuff that i've done in the past......do i sell to the states?

too many questions.......

You charge what it costs you to develop/make + some to make it worth your while........it's looking to be a very nice looking product, so you have to charge accordingly. If people are not willing to pay this, then that's their choice....they can try and make it themselves and probably end up with an inferior product.

Demand won't be massive, but then again, it never is with 'high end' scale products......we are in a minority here.

Copyright etc......that's a risk we take. We've been selling static props, guns, exhaust stacks all over the world for the past 3-4 yrs......I've yet to see of hear of any 'copies' doing the rounds. Anyway.......the knowledge required to make decent copies isn't abundant......if it was, we'd all be doing what you're doing!!

(Matt.....haven't forgotten about the 1/3 cylinder barrels.....my moulding man is V busy on some new bombs right now, so the cylinders will happen after that)

Phil

Hi
Please could you tell me where I can get the GTM aluminium sections in the UK?

Alan, as far as I am aware you cannot get them in the UK, but get them direct from GTM, Glen is a top bloke and will get stuff out to you no problem.

Just what I was about to say :af :af

........but the problem is what to charge?

As Phil says :af

Quote
......would enough people want them?

I would :af, maybe even 2 of them if I can find a suitable model :xx

Quote
.......cost effective?

If you charge as Phil suggests, them they would be ;)

Quote
.......what would the kit compose of?

Crankcase, and 4-9 cylinders as required.  4 would be okay for Fokkers, for a full circular cowl, maybe 'short' cylinders with the intake pipes $%&

using silicone rubber......using the machined parts with balsa around the top for the moulds...nothing fancy....

will inspect tomorrow night when i get back from work......always exciting openning a mould and see if there any bubbles........hopefully not.....

1/3 scale stuff.....leave it with me......i'll have a think

silicone taking alot longer to go off..... >:( >:( >:( >:(...hope it does go off!.....

making gun mounts......brass tube...silver soldered......once the height is correct the tube will be cut to suit....

machined the conrod arm bracket yesterday......note the square hole......the 2 funny shaped parts are the square pins that will go inside.....the arms are made in 2 halves and glued together...a slot will be cut in the smaller end to take the conrod

Nice job Dave, see your not as stingy as me with the rubber for the molds  :''

By the way, that acrylic paint on the tyres didn't last long on wet grass, two trips to the flightline and they are black again  ::)

Wings, fusses etc were built as and when they werer ordered. Engines were scarce as factorys etc were damaged (There was a war on ya know!), Thw aircrafft wings were stacked ready for when and engine became available. Also, if a aircraft was to be stored, it would be dismantled and stacked on these bumps. (I think!)

Mat :)

That's the trouble with these "stand off" scale modelers, so little attention to detail/accuracy  :nananana:

Not the same rotary engine, but how about this one seen at Old Warden weekend just gone! Caught running, but a very fast shutter speed stopped it.

but back to the model; I can see quite a few people wanting castings of that engine. Looks very nice.

after some long thinking this morning...I'm ditching my attempt at doing the loza pattern..... :( :( :(...never mind better to drop it now and be even more painful later....

so.......2 options open....get some Arizona loz covering......the GTM is fantastic....but at 1/4 scale looks too heavy....Matt's D6 looks brilliant at 1/3 scale....also don't want to add the weight........with layers of dope etc....

or a new scheme...one without loza pattern...did find a wasp!....black and yellow fuz....brown wing....'sea eagle'.......but it was hypotetic..'osterkamps fokker E.V.'........

so need some help.......please.....any offers?

Whatever you chose remember that, if you want use the model in F4c competition, you will need to have some evidence of the scheme you have modelled.  Doesn't matter for flying only scale of course cos there's no static judging.
