i've got a nice shiney new os91hz non-pump in its box ready to go into the d3 :nananana:

I went flying today :D :D :D :D
Only had 4l of fuel with me, so had to come home after 7 flights ;D
Now question time, even though both helis were set up by the same person they are not the same. The one has a higher head speed, hovers just over 1/2 stick. On the 9c, do you think i should tweak the pitch curve at 1/2 throttle a wee bit, or adjust it out with the hov-pit knob?Would have to save afterwards?Other thing is that that heli also wags its tail abit.Do you think that the gain is set too high on the 401?

Charging everything up again, going flying again tomorrow.Amazing how much easier it is to hover when your fingers are not numb ;D ;D ;D
Decided that alot of flying in the next 2 weeks should be good therapy, have ordered more fuel this afternoon, only have 10l left. :o

i would tweak the pitch and throttle a little
with the lower head speed it may cure the wag but if not lower the gain until it stops wagging

and the d3 is no fresh air powered for fuel saving  ;D
i hope to put the hz in later

Going to take my infra red thermometer with me tomorrow and reset mixtures on both. Then i will have a look at sorting out the headspeed.Have not flown the other sceadu much, but have noticed the wag and headspeed issue before.Think i will sit down with the tx now and see what the throttle and pitch curves look like for both :D
As for your d3, no engine equals no vibes :af

Had a look at the pitch curves, quite a difference.Tweaked the curve a couple of % around points 3 and 4.Will see what happens tomorrow.

Hey Ho Hey Ho its off to fly i go ;)
Fritz just walked past my door, but could have been his twin brother, the dustbin man ;D
Do you get given grief about putting empty fuel containers in the rubbish bin?
We used to have a bin at the flying field, but alas no more :'(
Scrotes kept filling it up with building rubble etc.
Will have to speak to the guys at the club and see how they get shod of them.

Never have yet!  Though I doubt our binmen even see what's in the bins.  They just wheel the bin up to the dustcart, hook it onto the mechanism at the back and the cart does the rest.

What sort of grief do yours give you?  And where do they suggest you stick the containers? (And if they're being stroppy I'm sure you could think of a few places you'd like to stick them... :'')

Hi John
It was bad timing this morning, i went down to the garage to put a new bottle of fuel into the boot of the car and took yesterdays empty out.As i walked around the corner there stands a "new" dustbin man who promptly says,"you cant put that in there mate".My response was ,"you want a bet?Just watch me!"Off he went grumbling something about reporting me to the body corparate. What is that old adage about a new broom..... ;D ;D ;D

Think in future i will just adopt what the eye cant see attitude, and bury it in a bin bag. ;)

We're lucky in one respect - we must be the first street in the "round" so our bins get emptied just after 6am.  No chance of any conversation with the binmen unless I really want to get up that early!

:'( :'( :'( Just got back from the field where i managed to settle the collective pitch servo. At least it gave me warning, suppose you should listen to your instincts sometimes. The thing is, yes, it probably was due to me fiddling.I tweaked the pitch curve a bit, but changed the 1st point as well.It did not sound as if the linkage was binding and the servo was not humming. But, all that said, seems a bit odd that 3 tanks down the line the servo is stuffed. What a waste of a 9402, not even 20 flights old. :banghead: :banghead:

More i think about it, more i am not convinced it was me.Think i will open it up later.I have not let all the smoke out of it, it works with a bit of help.Wonder if the gears are stripped?Never been raced or ralleyed, one careful owner blah blah blah.Supposed to have metal gears in it, but still live in the hope :xx

i don't consider that my 50 hypers have a bearing issue
4 1/2 years use and only 1 bearing in the sceadu  :)

but i do think the 55 size engines will start to become unreliable due to the power they will produce, next it will be a 58 or a 60 in the small case

and i hope the sceadu is in better shape than my sdx after a servo failure

Offline johnny wrote Re: Hirobo 50 sdx on June 18, 2009, 19:39:54 PM
Sceadu still very much in one piece :P
It gave me a glitch and it was stop the bus, that was not normal.Landed and cut the engine, could see nothing untoward, checked battery, did range check, all ok. Restarted engine, hit throttle hold, and could see swash moving up and down by itself.Cut motor and then servo no longer responded.More i think about it, more i think gears are stripped.Strange since the ground has never risen up to spite it. $%&

My sister in law gave birth to twins this afternoon, so family time now. Will have a look at it tomorrow :xx

My motors have not given me grief, one hyper has had bearings, my bad, a rust issue.I also dont run them so lean that the only smoke is the piston melting ;D

i also run rich on my engines, i may get a little oil on the airframe but at least i know the engine is well lubricated
and i'm an agent for wildcat fuel so i can't be seen to have engines blow up as i'm selling the fuel

i hope the twins are well

Got to the bottom of the servo issue this morning :o :o
You didn't by any chance have 9402's in your sdx did you?
Everything worked 100% this morning, until i wiggled the servo lead, which then came off in my hand.
I kid you not, looks like black wire corrosion.Ripmax is in for a word or two this morning.
Good quality £88 servo

no my sdx didn't have 9402's in it but my md500 has and they haven't given any trouble
i would check the battery and switch and any extention leads as well
thinking about it i would just change the battery and switch as its cheaper than a crash

my servo that failed one of the brush's snapped off and jammed the servo motor

we'll see if he gets here before ripoffmax delivers the sdx parts to mid heli's
and i'll have some spares if i decide to do any more gardening with the sdx

Blackwire corrosion normally affects the negative cable, all three leads were corroded.Looks to me as if the silicon like sealer they used to stop the lead vibrating had something in it that attacked the copper.Switch and battery only 6 months old. Will see what ripoffmax have to say, but ordered a new servo in the meantime.

Twins doing well. :)

Off to fly old faithful ;D
I take it you ordered all your spares for the sdx from world of heli?
Is wildcat fully synthetic?I always used 20% nitro 18% klotz oil.Have been using part synthetic, has 2% castor in it, and my heli's look terrible with that brown gunk on the pipe.Decided to finish it and look else where for fuel. What would 4 gallons delivered to Tn30 cost?

yes i've order the sdx spares from world of heli, if the ones from midland turn up first then i'll use them for the rebuild if not they will be for spares

wildcat is fully synthetic using klotz oil

On the subject of plugs, how many liters of fuel before you change the plug?

Offline payne1967 wrote Re: Hirobo 50 sdx on June 20, 2009, 21:12:40 PM
i get many gallons from a plug
the scale machines get a new plug when ever i work on them
the pod and boom get plugs when they don't work
in the whole fleet of pod and boom i may fit one or two plugs a year
the old shuttle has the plugs from the scale heli's, it never gets a new one

the c spec that i've taken out of the d3 has never needed a plug in 18 gallons, i did fit one to try and cure the vibrations but it made no difference ad the old plug was ok
i use os8's and enya 3's
the c spec os8

I got used to plug changes every 10l or so $%&
The fuel in South Africa is not formulated with medical grade methanol, and so contaminates your plugs quite quickly. It does not seem to have any adverse affects on the motor though.Plugs dont burn out that often, but the filament gets coated with something, you get a really lumpy idle, power loss , and hard starting. The other thing it does is soften the fuel tubing in the tank, which you need to replace every 2 months or so.Leave it any longer and it sucks itself closed. When you replace it, you can stretch the old stuff like an elastic band, only difference being it stays stretched :o How often do you change your fuel tubing here?

Went out to friends lastnight , still trying to decide if flying is a good idea this morning. Not a particularly "wet" evening, but getting home at 3 this morning is taking its toll :D

Enjoy your flying if you do go out today. :af
Still no sdx canopy, bladegrips etc, hope it doesnt mean the deciever of revenue has them in his grubby little mits :xx
