Hi
Sorry I have not put any pics on here but when the forum crashed I couldn't get back on and then one thing and another.

Just to remind you Keith is building this and might be doing it as a kit or plans.

He picked a BE2c as its a two or one seater that someone on here wanted.

The plans are now done and he has started the first one to check it all out.

Hes looking for a good Z62 if anyone has one for sale.

I have also put some pics of the last plane he built a Kitty Hawk thats not quite finished, so you can see the quality of his work.

Fine choice, either that or an RE8 (Harry Tate) Both hyper stable A/C.there is on record of a BE2c flying for over 30 miles into German territory with a dead crew on board after being attacked crossing German lines being lost in cloud. It then re appeared flying sedatley West and was then re engaged by 7 plus fighters led by Udet who all had a go at it in turn, Still it flew on and the German pilots felt uneasy as it was seen that the crew were dead and the rear of the A/C was streaked in blood.It again flew into cloud and was lost to view, When found it had made a perfect landing in a field. Juust one of the many strange stories to come out of that conflict of so many years ago.The normally ebulant Udet was profoundly affected by this ephisode for some time. Incidently no pilot came forward to claim the kill. regards Ken ;copper;

What a great choice of prototype, especially with the Be12 option. I am designing a Be2e at 1/3 which had single seat versions called the Be12a and b. Purely since I love the fragile looks with the A frame on the top outer panels and unequal span wings. Looking forward to the progress with your machine with great interest, keep it coming!! :af :af

Thanks for that. The wings on the 12 are totally different and were use on the RE8, but was worth a look Ta.

What weight are the others 1/3 scale planes as a matter of interest.

My Pup is 28lb with a geared Z38

My Camel will be around 31lb with a geared Z38

I would imagine the Be2 will be much more though since there is much more of it. Somewhere in the region of 45lb would be good. Power will be a geared Z62

'My' Be2e is still at the design stage, I'll be doing the design and the prototype, after that who knows. Thats why I have a great interest in this model, it'll inspire me for mine :af

What sort of weight and power are you aiming for Pete?

HI
As light as pos but its growing daily. 35 would be good but I think 45 is more likely. Will a Z62 be enough? and where's the cheapest place to get one?

Keith built the undercarriage today and ordered a pile of wood ::cc

Thanks for the interest.

Woods here and he's built the tail plane pics soon.

Stuck on finding suitable wheels. We need 8" vintage wheels. Anyone know where we can find them please?

Pete, you could try pram wheels, as Mick Reeves only go up to 7", have a look down the local tip, if young Ken doesn't beat you to it  :''

Or you could always make your own out of Ply disks with heater hose tyres

Hi
Need some advice on wings please. Shall we build the wing spars

Option one made out of solid balsa

Option Two central web with top and bottom capping

Option Three three laminations of balsa, pine or spruce and balsa again

What do you think?

Wings will be wire braced
Ta

I would use Cyparis, two spars and balsa spar webbing with the balsa grain vertical

OK now need a motor to move on. The Zenoah 62 has been recommended. We are looking to use a 36" prop to make it look scale. Where can we get a reduction set up from? Are they made for the Zenoah engine? Is this pos?

PS Help!

The Zen62 reduction gear is from Mick Reeves, made specifically for the Zen.

Link HERE about halfway down the page

As Stuey says there is one in Kens Fokker and it runs very well.

Hi Steve,

The Torquemaster is a great unit which fits easily due to the very small dimensions
Got one in my 1/3 Reeves Camel and it runs good  :uk:
Minus to my opinion is the smaller prop 30x12-14"

If you're looking for a bigger prop than maybe the Schlundt drive from Germany is something for you
It turns a 34x20" prop (reduction 2,5:1)
It can be side,- or upright mounted, whatever fits your fuse best  ^-^

ShopXS

Look at Getriebe (=reduction) and Getriebe fur ZG62

Thanks for the replies, you all have such a great knowledge for this, but just before we send our hard earn t, there isn't anything with a bit more power out there that we can fit a reduction to is there? :''

Not really unless you are prepared for a lot more expense, beside that you have as much power with this set up as you are ever likely to need. And it has proven reliability which counts for everything. regards Ken ;copper;

OK, here is some feedback  ;)  ;D

YouTube - Big scale Fly Baby Schlundt RC getriebe gear ZG 62

Here a show-flight of mr. Schlund's own Fly Baby (3,8m, 18kg) in Hollands very strong wind  :af

YouTube - Gear 2,5:1 with ZG62 from Modellbau Schlundt

The drive costs twice the Reeves Torquemaster but it is perfectly engineered with the best materials

They do look like the business but they are dearer than the motor  $%& and it would mean we could have a bigger prop :banghead:  Have to think on this.

We could always make one 2.5:1 !
