Weve been getting 5 min flights on our batteries so far duncan, theory is it may be possible to do 2 races per pack,  $%& $%& but as you say the charge time should be about 25/30 after one race, ill test it out tomorrow if the weathers flyable

Gollocks still cant get it to work  >:( >:(

rough written directions are as follows:-

Take Junction 15a off M1 - Take A43 South and turn left on Towcester Rd S.P. Blisworth
In Blisworth turn left on Gayton Rd S.P. Gayton and left again
After crossing A43 go straight on at the cross roads
The field is a short distance on the right

Will continue trying to sort the map thing ::)

Result of the eye test is i cant see a thing - most people get shown round the showroom to choose their frames - they took me round the kennels instead  :study: ::)  :''

Apologies to my friends and colleagues, but this is the last straw for me;

steve

First of all, if the area of the Langtoft field not occupied by the “bl))dy great big building” is not sufficient for you to fly comfortably, then you should really not be flying solo!

Secondly, if you are not satisfied with the conditions available at this site, then find somewhere else to fly!!

Lastly if I read any further derogate remarks on this e2k section, made about the Langtoft site, generously offered to the pylon race fraternity by the Peterborough club, with it’s flat closely mown patch, on site hard standing parking 100mts from the flying area, and dawn till dusk availability, you WILL be looking for somewhere else to fly, trust me on this!!

I do believe theres a sensitivity problem here, i  belive Steve was commenting on a landmark and nothing elses, ive checked all the other past mails and find no form of derogitive remarks of any discription towards the field, club, or individuel

Hmmm - new camel required I think  ;D

Seriously though we're very grateful for the use of the Peterborough field and as Darren says i'm not aware of any adverse comment in the e2k section or anywhere else.

All Steve was trying to do was to ensure that i'd got it right - which knowing my ability for getting it wrong i'm grateful for  ::)

Have to say that while i'm sure none of the comments was meant to be "derogate" as you put it I do feel that suggesting that a guy who is a well known show pilot and bmfa examiner is not fit to fly solo possibly is  :-\

See you on Sunday  :''

I'm sure that Steve is very grateful to be able to use the Peterborough field in order to come racing, right Steve? As I know the rest of us certainly are.

We all know that flying site are very hard to come by, so as the mod of this section, I offer most sincere apologies on behalf of all posters for any offence caused.

Personally, I think it's an absolutely fantastic site for our racing.

Let's get this thread back on topic please. Any remarks about the thread other than OT stuff to be addressed through me by PM now please. I don't want this becoming any more of an issue.

Firefox, you would arrive at 0900 mate, and I'm sure that Darren will be along shortly to tell you about the kits. Come along, and bring a hard hat with you and I'm sure the lads will get you inside the bases to have a feel of the heat of racing!

Hi guys, thanks for the info; I am not sure if I can make it, but if I get a chance I will - have fished out my hard hat in case.  ;)

Any idea what time you will be there till?  :)

It might be useful to have a few Wasp kits available at these events in the future, would be useful to get new people into it and maybe useful for the odd 'tree' incident!  ;)

Hi Guys, thanks for a brill day and a good start to the 2009 season, british weather was fantastic, sunshine nearlly all day, couldnt have wished for better.

e2k has got of to a good start with mike toyer setting the pace of a 78sec after a struggle with a very twitchy set up at the beginning, unfortuanatlly had trouble with his motor and and a landing on hard ground put him out of the last couple of races and a miss on the finals, i think we will see mike in the low 70's very soon, especially once his batteries are matured.

Justin had problems with his plane, possibly on his s/c and kept him grounded all day, shame because i was looking forward to seeing what times he would have put in, im sure well see some very low 70's out of justin soon

Nick did very well today, hes still got 3 models  :uk: his first race saw a severe motor burnout for some reason on his first race with a DNF, on to the spare model and was going very well and settled down well to getting some good quality times and enjoying his racing

Duncan had a great run, same as mike on brand new batteries, suffered for a bit with the model being twitchy, reduced the rates and put in some good times, i think beating his c2k personall times, again i dont think it will be long before his times tumble pretty quickly

Mine was a lousy start, id adjusted the elevator pushrod and hadnt tightened the locking nut and it unscrewed itself completly by lap 2 and lost all elevator, but she came down in one piece by the luck of the gods, times were slow with new batteries but as the day wore on the packs were giving a lot more, same as the others i suffered twitchy flights and improved more as the movements were reduced

The finals were nick duncan and myself, thoroughly enjoyed this race. made a few booboos but managed to keep in front, duncan wasnt far behind as i kept seeing his dark plane nearby, didnt see much of nicks plane till near the end, nearlly caught him  :ev, saw someone go out of shape, then a boo boo at no 1 and i cut, gollocks
without the cut it would have been in the 80's,
Duncan clintched the win,(and got the first e2k trothy win) followed by nick and me 2/10th sec behind, make one mistake  :banghead: :banghead: thanks goes  to trevor for calling for me

A great start to e2k and i think enjoyed by all inc the c2k guys, there was a couple of races mixed with ic and worked very well as the airspeed are very evenly matched.
ill post in a seperate thread about flying with c2k after we had a chat with Frank

After todays flights there does seem to be marginal benefits out of s/c's with no clear winner which is good, batteries certantly need a few races under thiere belts before they start delivering, and all of the e2k planes have needed smaller movements to get them flying more smoothly, benefit was quicker times
weve worked it out that theres about 30% of your battery capacity left if your course time is around 90 sec, more if youre in the 70's, and you can get away with just 3 packs if each used one is put straight on charge

overall i think everyone will agree e2k is definatlly looking like it has a future

thanks for a fab day guys and ill get a video posted up as soon a ive edited it
see ya second sunday in may for round 2  :af :af

and a big thankyou to the c2k guys for having us and especially Mr Clarkey

cheers

batteries certainly need a few races under their belts before they start delivering

That's pretty standard tbh, found the same with my packs too.

I Have no doubt that this class is the perfect class for begineers into racing too. It is a great class on it's own but for people wanting to just get laps in. Proven by the fact that you all did PB's and you all felt like you were racing!
Roll on the next one.

Am I right in thinking that if the battery holds its voltage better under load then it will flatten faster than another one?

I would imagine so as the motor will be doing more work as it will be turning faster.

Dead right mate - if the battery holds a higher voltage the motor will draw a higher current and will therefore flatten quicker. But it will obviously be producing more power  :af

I reckon 3 packs and 2 chargers would allow you to run all day - this is what i had and in each session by the time we got to the 4th race my first battery was full again :af

Norm - nice report mate

Guys - thanks for the positive comments on e2k. Darren, myself and Stu, before he decided it wasn't for him, put in a considerable effort to try to come up with something that would work and yesterday made it all worthwhile - great stuff  :af
