Looking for a source for good quality 8mm (or possibly slightly bigger) gold connectors

Seen these.............

8mm Gold Connectors

.......but the fact they seem VERY cheap concerns me a little as I'm needing to reliably pull 200A+ through them.

Anyone out there know of any other sources?

Cheers

Phil

Have you contacted Steve Neu?  He seems to be able to supply most high-current draw hardware these days.

Hi Phil,

try here...good reports on these 8mm ones
Hobbycity Online R/C Hobby Store : 8MM gold connectors (12 pack) $14.95)

One user reports pulling 250A with no problems

Cheers,

Shaun

I opted fo the 8mm connectors from Budget RC....they arrived yesterday and look good.......nice positive fit between the 2 halves, I'll get them soldered up this week ready for testing next weekend.

Phil, my mate has just come up with an alternative solution he has used...double up the connectors..you may have to double the wiring up or you could solder 2 connectors accurately together.....You should get 500A capacity with the Hobby City ones...  I would prefer to go higher voltage that current though.....much safer.....

School boy eletronics say's   Volts Jolts Current Kills.....  The current's you are using  can Kill.

I would wear rubber gloves when connecting up..

We're running 14s already....no space in the nose for more volts

Some of the connections are already done with 2 x 5.5's......was a bit of a faf on to do and VERY VERY tight to plug/unplug......I prefer the single 'BIG' connector route.

Gloves....yep.....I already do (apart from the time when I had brain fade and got it back to front and burned myself  :banghead: :banghead:)

It's a hacker H-200/8 on a Jeti Spin 300 ESC, 14s 13,500Mah Dualsky LiPo's, 30" 3 blade 'Solo' variable pitch prop.

...all buried in a 110.5" 1/4 scale Mk.1a Spitfire

A full build thread 'was' in the Fighteraces section here on RMCF.....it was lost in the crash earlier this year, but a smaller thread was restarted documenting the later finishing stages of the project

1/4 scale Mk.1a Spitfire build

Video of an early 'test' on the power train can be seen here.............

Phil I'd still prefer doubled up or trippled up connectors, on long enough separate leads that each can be plugged separately. That is why the ESC came with 3 + leads and 3 - leads. Using a single one would also mean using very fat wire. Look at the wire to the starter motor in your car!! Multiple connectors reduces the single points of failure too.

Phil,
just got to say the cockpit detail in the spit is stunning...you've just set a new level in detail.
A truly outstanding job.

You're certain it's not a photo of a real one  ;D

Thanks Shaun

It's very wrong of me to even mention my name in the same sentence as Pete........'He' builds real scale models....I just 'try'....and have a veeerryyyyy long way to go yet to be even half as good as him. It's the aim, so give me another 25 yrs, and we'll see where we are!!!
