I currently have 8 entries for Saturday. Need 10 to be able to run a race (3 pilots, 3 flagmen, 3 callers and one race director).

Need 2 more to step up to the plate! :af

Alansoarer are you thinking of coming? If so I need your entry: sgclarke(at)btinternet.com

Will,

Mike Evans has turned up this campsite:
Alfriston Camping Park , Alfriston Campsites, East Sussex Campsites and Caravan Sites

camping with 1 month old + your mum. Hmmm, are they tough? ;)

I can't do both I have a wife, young kids and a will to live for a little longer
so i had to make a choice
based on my experience 0 F3F and 0 EPP60" and the fact a Gulp is a good contender for the EPP60 and the AJ is not even close in F3F.
Having last years welsh open champ john as our club chairman I am often reminded of the quality of the planes and the pilots in the F3F
but mainly coz i fly for fun and try not to be to serious about my flying
I think the EPP60 sounds like great fun and a good way to enter the competitive world of model flying

Fly it Like it's Stolen
Land it like it's Borrowed

Thanks for spreading the word Allen.

We are now up to 11 pilots as Will is coming. Good man! :af

I'll publish a list later today but I'm going to hold the entry open until Fri.lunchtime for latecomers who can take an unallocated freq.

BTW Allen, your e-mail hasn't come through to me yet. I had a similar problem with another competitor at HoH so it could be a problem with my ISP. Could you try again plus maybe also copy to sgclarke(at)plymouth.ac.uk

Very much looking forward to it although less so to the 5.30 departure to get me there on time. Pity Frank who is leaving home at 2.30AM!

4th race of the season at Eastbourne, 20.6.09 is on.

Although the entry list would normally close at this point I am happy to take late entrants up until 12.00 noon on Friday, providing you can take an unallocated frequency.

Pilots List:

Mike Evans 80
John Phillips ?
Frank Hulton 59
Gary Harrison 74
Mark Abbotts 56
Mike Crofts 78
Steve Clarke 83
Tim Prevett 66
Julian Perrott 77
Allen Elliot 70
Will Deighton 57

11 pilots

We will meet at the car park at the bottom of the path up to the Long Man and move to the slope at 10.00. 10.45 briefing for an 11.00 first race. Here is a map.

Don't forget your Ł5 entry fee and proof of BMFA membership.

Forecast is currently 10mph NW, so lightish but well raceable and hopefully we will be on the Long Man which is reputedly a great hill. These kind of conditions often produce some of the best racing with minimum carnage. Let's hope for a good one.

OK Mike, 79 it is.

Just trying to maximise separation between freq.s but if it means digging..... Watch out though, one day you may be required to dig. Everyone has to submit 2 freq.s they CAN use.

I have dug!
Because Mike Y had 85 as 'his' freq along with me thinking it was 'my' freq I changed to 79 noting no one else in EPP60 used it hoping to make it  my own freq.
The whole fleet changed, digging done and labels slapped on.
Thats why I asked ::)

If you have a gap in the normal channel allocations you give let me know and I'll assume that.
I know everyone likes to have a channel they regard as'theirs' for convenience. I choose 85 as it was right at the bottom of the club peg board and people don't like bending down! Worked as well!

I don't want to muck you around though Steve so will go with what's best for the organisation.
So 78 or 79 your call :)

surely 78 is closer to 77 that Mr Perrott is flying on.  Not that it should matter (unless you all use JR I guess).

Good spot Tom. You're not after my job are you? ;) :)

Mike, leave it where you have it now. Both are free and both are adjacent to others. My bad :embarassed:. Soz!

On an unfortunate note, I have just (indirectly) heard that Frank has injured his back. Folk are trying to persuade him to get to hospital where he belongs but being a bloke..... So he's unlikely to be able to make Saturday. No room for anyone else to pull out now so three line whip lads.

I really don't think there is an issue with adjacent channels to be honest. IIRC it's worse on certain other channels, but I can't remember the exact reasons why.

Tim and I went up to Bossington last night to get some trimming flights in. 15 mph WNW was perfect so we're pretty prepared this time (hopefully! ::)). I have 2 Snipers pretty fettled and a tweaked M60 and S-15 in case it's a bit on the light side.

Tim has been burning the midnight oil and has a new model, an SLE Sniper. This is a Sniper with a straight leading edge. The thinking was it might ping a turn a bit better with this planform.

Well it worked out pretty good! :af This is one scarey fast model  :o. At least as fast as the conventional tapered version on the straight and it turns superbly. I got to have a go on it too and you can pull hard on the turn and it shoots out with real grip and confidence. He's got the CG spot on and has flown it empty (and it's reasonably light) and also with 14 Oz of lead. It absolutely howls! If Tim can keep it together everybody should be very worried on Saturday.

Good to see some development work with the Sniper going on. Shouldn't it now have a new name though? Maybe Snipper?

Anyway, good luck to all tomorrow and hope the weather gods give you some great racing conditions.

It looks better than for the F3F on Sunday, as long as the showers stay away.

Hi Guys,
We had a good days racing of 8 rounds in all i think and a knockout :af

We started the racing off on the west slope with a gentle but flyable breeze with the odd thermal passing thru to liven up the pace a little. After lunch when the sea breeze kicked in from the south we had to move camp further around the basin, which gave some fairly quick and closely matched races at times.

There wasn't too many serious midair's,but quite a few little clips in the racing and at practice times which added to the buzz.

I'm sure Steve will give a better report than me and put up the results as well.

Thanks to all that turned up to fly and helpers that made it a very good race day :af

BTW,There's a new (Unofficial) name that's cropped up on the slope for the SLE Sniper and is now known as the Slapper :uk: for some reason.Don't ask me how this came about as i'm not quite sure myself $%&,but quite funny i thought,Something to do with Abbo i think.

Cheers

Tim

Everyone was talking about the slapper and i think everyone wants one
It was by far the best model on the slope and that was the general thought not just mine
If i did more than one EPP60 race a year I would be trying to rip Tims ares off for a Slapper

HaHa, Tim you know the SLE Sniper is going to be known as The Slapper from now regardless of what you end up calling it  :)

Tim had a pretty good day with Slapper (lol, that's going to stick). He made it through to the final of the knockout for the first time (and would have taken 2nd but for a cut). Overall he came 3rd in the comp which is his best result to date.

I think that plane just could be a phenomenon. :)

Results and pics to follow shortly.
