Topic: 1/3 Albatros DIII finally takes to the air

Well it finally got to fly, had a week away and managed to get 8 flights on her so far.

initial issues were nose heavy (with no lead in the front) so had to move the batteries back, axle not strong enough, tyres not staying on (normal issue) but now evostuck on. Other than a bit of uptrim no other trim required, she could do with a bit more power, as most of the flight is on 3/4 throttle (Z62).

Other than that it's a delight to fly

We plan to attend Duxford in a weeks time, so that will be her maiden outing, and then Cosford

Superb! It looks very authentic in the flying shots as the light reflecting off the top wing looks spot on!

After seeing one of Pats engines, finished and detailed, it almost makes me wish I had picked a German subject instead of the Nieuport 17.

Cool, so a Z62 on a gearbox for a Pfalz D12 would be fine then...

Re the mock merc engines, I have only made three so far, mine and i gave one to ken and one to steve these where not very good as i was still experementing. They are not that accurate as I tend to go for effect and not precise accuracy. I need to rework some parts and sepperate the cam shaft and rockers to avoid air bubbles. I will not get a chance to do too much on this just now as I am a bit tied up.
By the way steve your wings are done, do you want the fuz as well for Duxford
