Yeah you're right there- it's what most of us can only aspire to.
In the meantime I'll be taking average vids of average flying of an average model from an average site :-\  ;D

('scuse being dumb but what did he mean by using many plugins?)

I'd rather see an entertaining, well filmed, produced and edited video of a Carp plane being flown craply on a Carp site than watch a bland video of an awesome plane being flown amazingly on a top site.

Hmmm.  Tuff choice there :study:..

Maybe I'll pass on both (I'm a tough audience :)!

For me the video is all about sharing the flight, the conditions and the pilots experience.
If you don't have the resources to create the perfect 3-4 minute video with all the bells and whistles, who cares really? At least you are sharing your flight experiences.
I'll give most videos a try and if I get bored, I turn it off and watch another one. :af
I haven't been doing these hobbies long enough to have developed my ideas of what is good or bad and am keen to continue experimenting. I have found though, that I have been keeping the length of my clips to one song lately and get bored watching my own long clips.
I would like to think that "beginners" videos are more than welcome on this forum and look forward to watching people progress (or not) in this side of the hobby.

Steady on Clayton -- if your not careful you will be calling those that wish to try progressing their vids as elitist --   ;D

Did you notice the camera that Karl used -- pretty impressive quality from entry level kit  -- guess wide angle makes life easy, and he didn't actually film much flying. Mostly close up work.

Being critical - and lets be cause thats how we move forward -- Liked the start got a bit messy towards the end.

Agree our vids are too long to show your mom, but sometimes they are there to show merits of a model etc and then lots of repetative F3f stuff can make for a boring vid that still has a value to those few sad individuals like me..

totally agree mike and like clayton says you don,t have to watch them all.....when i have cut some high speed ds vids down from a full days dsing to 5 mins of footage i watch the footage back prior to loading to tinternet for viewing and think dam i have cut out such abit and  so on,then when i have watched  it back two or three times i think that vids a bit boring....sent my vid of mark southall doing 255 and some of myself 250 and marks foamie record to my uncle in austrailia and he was duty airport manager for quantas so he slight interest,he wrote back saying the vids were good but it was like watching paint dry! :'(dsing is difficult to pep/up it,s similar to watchin drag racing vids for me .....ya just gotta be there!

Dont let my blunt example cause any offence or get me stamped with being elitist, I'm just enthusiastic, keen to progress my own vids and would like to see more sloping vids of that type as thats where my interest lies.

I still enjoy watching general non spangly vids as I like to see what other RCMFer's get up to.

A couple of relevant points from that video:
1. I was calling out which bits of flying I wanted videod - necessary cos of the camera limitations, but a pretty good idea anyway, having to think what you actually want shot.
2. I was mixing up close-in action / aeros & fast passes - but telling my "cameraman" what was coming next.

OK, here's one I posted on the SE regional thread a couple of months ago, so some of you will have already seen it.

But I think it's only fair to let a wider audience see Leebert's dodgy launch at around 2:50... ;D

Oh, hey, how did you get that? - when it started up on RCG I just got "not available in your region"

John - nice to see some shots of "pilots in action" - not often seen on slope vids

I think the version posted on rcgroups was the channel's version of the iplayer which has a regional restriction, seems that the youtube clip is ok....I only stumbled across it by accident.

I Love watching people progress and really enjoy watching high quality, top notch videos. All I meant was to encourage people without the desire to create a high production vid to post them up :af  I for one would still love to see all sorts of vids in this thread. Sorry if I created a sore point. I definately didn't mean to.

Yo Gromit,on the way to our "secret spot" my car bottomed out and cracked the sump. Not wanting to miss a days flying i just parked on top of hill till end of day.Phoned my breakdown recovery(AA) only to be told it was,nt a breakdown but a collision, and would only recover me if i payed a daft amount of money on my credit card!! Hung up phoned private recovery for quarter the price. Have now left AA.Happy flying to one and all.

In case you're not following my Comp Sally Build thread...

Heres a short vid of my homebrew carbon wing shot yesterday whilst having its maiden flights. I had a great afternoon, the plane flew better than I had hoped for and what a cracking day weather wise, a light wind of 10-12mph and a little warmth from the sun too.

This was filmed on my Sanyo Xacti again (still very happy with this little camera), I edited the vid with Power Director again because Premiere Elements wouldnt import an mp3 file!?  $%&  :banghead:

Nothing fancy, I didnt spend much time on it...

What a brilliant video - I'm sitting here smiling  :) I really liked the up beat music and simple but 'having a good story line' type of editing if you know what I mean.

Like the wing too and great flying. Its nice to watch a sunny flying video on a rainy Sunday morning. It has inspired me to put more effort into making better flying videos - thanks  :af

If you download a free streaming audio recorder, you can record your
track as a wav file which Premier should be OK with

I thought - 'no time like the present' so I downloaded a trial copy of Sony Vegas 9 to experiment with editing HD video.

Eeeks! Looks like I'll be needing a degree to use even a tenth of its capabilities!  :o I think I had it easy with Pinnacle Studio. I might even resort to reading the manual  :study:

You dont have to have spangly software, the only effect I've used in the Sally vid is a fade over of differing lengths.

What I've found to make the most difference is getting the right video footage before you even look at editing software, I look at the site and think of the camera angles I might get from it, think about how I might put the final video together and go from there making sure I get plenty of footage to play with (I took about 40-50mins of video yesterday yet used only 2mins of it).

Having all that in place before hand makes editing the final video so much easier.

Aaahhh The joys of living in Cornwall! I even had my coat off on the walk back to the car :)

as to which way is up, shes got 3 white stripes on the top and I should know which way is up as I put it there... that is of cause until I second guess myself and stuff it into a gorse bush  :)
