Had a great Saturday at LMA Cosford but came away with more than I bargained for... The Camel sustained some trailer damage when it broke loose inside, nothing serious but this will bring forward the much needed repaint into Don Maclaren's scheme. I also picked up the laser cut kit from Leon at BelAir for the Pfalz D12. See other thread.  :)

But, I also came across a project that another forumite on here was thinking about re-homing. He may expose himself shortly..  :''

He had been working away discretely for the last year on an attractive German, two seater artillery/recon aircraft, the LVG CV1. I wasn't that familiar with the type but fell in love with the layout and schemes as soon as I clapped eyes on them.

To cut a long story short, there was some spare space in my trailer, and after the sale of some other pieces I wasn't going to get around to, it's now come home with me.... :)

So this is what it will look like one day..

I understand that Von Richoften's brother Lothar was killed in one of these.

And this is where i start. The fus is largely there, with some detail. The wing ribs are laser cut and need assembling..

The cabanes are just sitting there, waiting for the centre section with radiator/fuel tank to be added

The full size was some 42 1/2 foot span and 24 feet long so at Dawn patrol sizes will be around 14 feet wing span and 8 feet long...

Power I am hoping to use will be a Zenoah 62 which is sitting in my garage at the moment married to a 3 to 1 reduction drive from Phil at Fighteraces. That will throw a scale sized prop...

Once the Camel's flying again, and my trailers painted, it'll be all hands to this "pump"...

Well, when he does I hope Tigger's not around, or he'll be marched straight down the station...  ;copper;

What's the idea of the "shark's fin" on top of the engine?  I can't make out if it's inlet or exhaust pipes that seem to go up into it.  Exhaust would make more sense as the top points backwards... ???

Remember, up is up, and down is down.  Except when inverted - when down is up, and up can be very expensive

No, I think our sheep and cows are built from the same blueprint both sides of the pond.   :af

But having seen that tent I think a certain forum member will have to be renamed "stueycow."  ;D

Right rung about this morning and guess where it is, and where was I Saturday!   That;s right, COSFORD........

Bad news is that it's in storage in bits and not accessable for viewing....

Have a call out to the curator to see what can be arranged so I will wait and see.

Any others about?

Looks so much better in the air and surrounded by all its friends don't you think?

Perhaps we should start a campaign to get it lent to the Shuttleworth collection again for a second time.  After all it is ours.   It's owned by the RAF Museum, that's funded by the UK tax payer, we're UK tax payers therefore we own it and should have a say in it's future - QED

Shall we suggest a loan period of 50 years :ev

funny you should talk about a camera... Pupcam pooped over yesterday and noted that the original had a trapdoor in the bottom and a window in the floorboards to all a camera to photograph directly what was underneath the aircraft. No, wethink that a scale camera with a flycam and/or downlink in it would be rather cool.

That would be an LVGCAM
