Looking forward to getting all 30 feet of wings in the air!

BBeen sidetracked by the trailer at the moment, then I need to repair the Camel's rigging, and then it's wing building time.... Need a mortgage for the wing spars... some 240 feet of the buggers...

Has it been this long since I posted here.

No progress to date. Once I got this beaty home and put it in the garage with all my other stuff I ran into a crisis of space..... both in the garage and in the trailer.

So much time has been spent tidying up the trailer and redcorating and refitting the garage with benches and shelves... Also had delays with an eye operation and some house maintenance too.

Should be another couple of weeks before the garage is done and can start building again. probably re=paint my Camel first and then layout the benches for the LVG.

Watch this space but be patient please....

I got the book a week ago and it is well worth the money,The strange thing I noticed that librally scattered throughout the book are warnings about using any of the contents by printing off is forbiden. Also downloading is also proscribed.Never seen this before, the drawings are excellent but again have these warnings, I am not sure why this is so. However anyone contemplating the C.vi will have a little goldmine of info as the drawings include the prototype, the production, and the civilianised sedan version. All in all well worth the money. regards Ken

A lot of authors perceive they are losing revenue because people scan their work and post it on the net for others to download. Whether the downloaders would have bought a copy if they couldn't get one free or just have gone without is a source of endless debate.

lol i think their the blue ones. BTW you see how the LVG's outer wing panels attach? they have little access hatches on the corners of the center section. there are pins on the outer panel that slide into  holes on the end of the center section then spring loaded pins pop into these

To be fair, the fabric is the result of co operation with NASM in the US and the French National museum and the UK.It is now generally recognised that it unfortunatly not as accurate as it should be and neither the French (with their LVG restoration  or Their LVG back engineered replica nor the UK with their restoration of the Shuttleworth LVG) will be using this fabric. Beside this what will you do with it if you get it? At 1/3rd scale the Glen Torrance fabric is more accurate in colour. Agreed there isnt a lot in it but there is enough to make a difference to some.Anyway sheepdip if my memory serves you have over 50sq ft of lozenge fabric to play with to keep you going. Having said that its good to see your mind is turning even more LVGwise. As an addenum I hope when the UK finally decide to start their renovation they get round to getting an accurate rudder shape, as the present one is a mile out and is probably off a C,V... Just a thought. my regards Ken

YAY Hi Ken.

yes mind is on the LVG, just need to decorate the hall, stairs, landing, dining room, kitchen, lounge and three bedrooms first! Making progress as I have done the garage, main bedroom, cloakroom, en suite and bathroom since xmas.... So expect to get back into this hobby in July time....

The e-bay panel is just something nice to have. Maybe hide a small bit somewhere on the finished example just to say that there is a bit from an actual flying LVG in the model.. Silly perhaps?

No Sheepdip, its not silly at all. I can relate to that. On every A/C I can remember building there is my name and date of build  on a rib or former. Especially on a scale model there is a lot of you goes into it. One day if I ever build a WW.1 British A/C (something I have never done) there will be a genuine RFC cap badge I have had for years going in somewhere. Its not a thing I can easily explain, but I do know the more research that goes into a build there is an undefineable extra something added. As for time span of a build well you have all the rest of your life so there is no rush.Once the Phalz D.XII is finished I have the Albatros D.I then I will start on a project I have allways wanted to do, a 1/3rd scale A.E.G. G,IV. this is only a tiddler compared to Pats Gotha spanning a gnats knakker over 20ft. The L.V.G. will be started when you are good and ready and not before.Go get it good buddy. regards Ken

Not silly at all. I intend finding a bit of a Wellington to fit in mine when I am ready to get it going. A full size crashed about 2 miles from my hoose, I have already spoken to an eye witness (now 80 odd) and the land owner. I find it rather fittng to do this sort of thing. WWI stuff as you know is probably quite scarce now. Go for it :af :af

I completely agree with Stuey, Lord Redshaw, and Ken Hart, I remember finding an old pair of Edwardian era plywood false teeth at a flea market on Humbolt Strasse in Berlin, on close examination I discovered the
initals W Gabriel, I fitted them to the undercarriage of a mode in 1/4 scale of his DVii and they made an excellent convesation piece at the BDMAFG (British Dental Assocation Model Flying Group) annual jamboree...... Jim

PS ........ I have an old silk condom which was owned by Lothar Von Richtofen, any suggestions ????   Von Jim
