Is there any way to slow down the flap travel on an FF9

There are a number of options.
1/  If you connect the flaps to throttle as in my previous posts they will operate at the same speed as you operate the throttle.

2/  You can assign them to the servo slow on ch3 (normally throttle) and assign throttle to another Ch. How to from the Futaba site FQAs:-

My 9C manual says that I can use the "servo slow" option on a different channel other than my throttle, but it defaults to channel 3 only, is there a way that I can use this with a different channel as the manual suggests?

What you will need to do is to plug whatever servo you are wishing to slow, into the channel 3 slot and get that set up as you wish.

Then you will want create throttle on another channel (we'll use 8). You will need to go into the Aux Channel screen to make channel 8 Null.

Then we are going to do a series of mixes:

   1. For the first mix, you will go into the advanced menu and create a mix from Throttle to Throttle at -100% each way with any switch in the Null position, this will turn off the throttle stick action for you.

   2. Second mix, you will want to make Throttle master and Aux2 as slave, Link Off, Trim Off, the switch should be set to STK-THR and the rates should be +100% in both directions.

   3. Next you will want to make another mix with Offset as master, and Throttle as Slave, for this example you can put this on Switch C in the UP position at +100%.

   4. For fourth and last mix, again do an offset mix with Offset as Master and Throttle as Slave and then put this on Switch C in the Down position at -100%.

This will make your channel 8 servo act as your throttle with your throttle stick and allows you to use channel 3 with a different servo plugged into it, as your "delayed" servo.

Lastly all you need to do is go into Throttle Delay and set the amount of delay you want on this servo."

I haven't tried this myself, so don't know how well it works, but if I have a bit of time later I will give it a try.


3/ You can fit a servo slow between the RX and the servo. Hobbycity do one Sevo speed regulator You can connect up to 3 servos to the one ch with this one and can use it to reverse the direction of any of the servos.

I tried this mix recently to slow the flaps. It all looked great until I went to move the throttle trim and found it was moving the flaps. I double checked all my settings as I had printed the mix from the Futaba FAQs for T9CP from their website. Everything appeared to be set correctly and the flaps still moved with throttle trim, so in the end I put the flaps back on a switch and forgot the delay.
