7mph NE for me that means Leckhampton. I will be there in about half an hour, trying to avoid the trees. ::) ::) ::)

So, it's a building day then... typical, when I've just got the Heron back up and running again.

XC seems to be shaping up for Lesley next weekend though, so fingers crossed.

We really need a good Easterly slope... anybody got a JCB and a few acres?

Try to stay in the middle of the air. Do not go near the edges of it.

Well yes, but....

 - it's at the top of a big hill ;)

 - it's quite a distance - 45mins from me, and I'm on the Northern edge of you lot.

 - I'll be there this evening anyway - but too late to fly :(

I refer the esteemed gentleman to M'Lord Fridge's post of 9:22 this very day.

I don't mind really, I've been practising my vinyl cutting...

What do you think?

I tried Leckhampton yesterday, at first very good then wind went Easterly and pants. Hopefully, if the wind is still Easterly then Rodboro will generate enough lift to fly a ferret.
Must be better than Sunday PM telly. ;)

Fair enough.

We need a good NE quadrant slope then.. one you (or even I) can land crunchies safely at!

Which ever way the wind was blowing, we were flying at Rodborough this morning. Lift was variable, but good enough for me to keep my Wildthing up. Also flew my Lina, which went well in the light conditions. Next stop... Bahrain, so won't be out next weekend.  :)

LOL!! Nice bit of work that man.
 ;D

I was in a bit of a huff last night knowing that I wouldn't be able to make it out today so i'm actually quite glad to hear it wasn't the best.
 :-\
On a positive, with the evenings pulling out, if the wind does blow from the NW any time soon we should be able to get out there and feel some Lesley love. I need a good Cotswold sesh - it's been too long!

Rodboro wasn't too bad this pm. I met some interesting people, one brought his Discus and had a few good flights, he said 'exhilarating' in the variable lift. Definitely better than sitting at home. :)

You're still with us then - I was starting to think you'd written yourself off in that flashy new motor!! ;D :af

No flying for me this weekend and looking unlikely for next weekend either, only chance I'll get is sunday afternoon - I might not be going to Bahrain but I'll be watching so limited flying options >:(

Tony, how's the ferret flying?

Good old Bahrain, been there many times. R/C Aeroplanes were not allowed (a year ago) so no flying fun for you. The weather should be superb.
Have fun Gordon!

The maiden flight of the 'new model' looks like it might have to wait until Friday.

Fingers crossed for Lesley's humps on Friday afternoon then.

Gosh...................will I be able to wait that long ? Of course I will.......................... actually I'll probably have forgotten what I was supposed to be doing by then.

Oh well..............................................zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I may be able to make an early evening session either tonight, Wednesday or Friday. I'm also likely to be around at the weekend. I do need to meet up with you at some point to give you your Depron and the £28.

Good to hear from you matey!

Don't need the money and don't know what to do with the Depron so no worries  ;)

Send me a text if you're heading out. Will probably head tothe gliding club on Weds and I'll take a wing with me.
I have my Keyfob camera and need to try if out  :)

When I said "next stop... Bahrain", that wasn't strictly true. I don't travel until Wednesday, so, as I had today off, I went for my first trip to The Bwlch.

ila_rendered

Started off at The Wrecker. Lift was spectactular!! However, if you think landing at Haresfield ridge is dodgy, you should give this a try! The recommended approach is apparently to land across the road! I then went for a trek to The Crest. Landing was a bit easier here. Got a bit worried by the approaching fires. I'm not sure if they were intentionally burning the grass, but there were plenty of fire engines around. Next time, I need to be a bit braver, as I only dared fly my Wildthing.

I could have written that - except I do need the money, and I won't be flying Wednesday..  ;)

I got a keyfob camera recently too - seems to work OK, but haven't flown it on anything yet.

Hello Sparkyben,
the ferret is aptly named, turns and twists so that I hardly know which way its pointed, and so quick it does give a little bite now and then, all that in very light wind.
I am looking forward to trying it in a good blow at Haresfield, just wishful thinking for now, roll on the spring. :xx

I could be, but only right at the end of the day - 5:00 on...

Leckhampton is certainly a big steep hill, but there is almost no landing area. Wings are OK, nothing else really. (12 people will now pop out of the woodwork to tell me you can land a 1/4 scale, genuine antique, balsa and tissue paper model there in a 50mph gale. But *I* wouldn't!

It's also quite difficult to find... read the maps carefully.
