I thought it worth commenting that I finally had my first chance to DS my D40 a few weeks ago. Beforehand I was a little sceptical that these things might be a bit of a gimmick, but I can now say without hesitation they are indeed awesome.  It tracked beautifully and behaved very nicely, as though it were twice its size.  Great little aeroplanes.

Well I thought I would recap the speeds.
As taken from rcspeeds, so if your speed hasn't been posted on the rcg speeds link it will not appear here. (And we cant edit the posts any more.

Adam Richardson  167mph
Mick Johnson          150mph
Andy Bourne            144mph
George Pilkington    137mph
Rick Smith               131mph
Steve Rainbow        123mph
And me bringing up the rear with 97mph

Still alot more to come from Steve Rainbow, that 123 was done in conditions where the model was just getting up on the front side, and really needed to be ds'ed to keep it going. And Well I hope to get mine over 100mph next time out.

I am not expecting too much out of mine as I consider it my light wind model, I have enough big wind day models.

Has Cambrad got a speed? needs posting if he does.
And how many other D40 are being ds'ed that are not up here????

Wonder how this list will look at the end of the year.

Will

Only ever been gunned once, it was by Adam at Re last year and i was dsing the D40 for the first time and was shaking like a leaf :o Managed 103mph i think but i swear it felt like double that, the next session a few mins later i was too inverted on the top turn and on pulling elevator i slammed it into the deck VERY HARD and broke it...........very much :banghead:

Hoping to get back up to re soon and getting the d40 gunned at a much higher speed if someone would be good enough to do me the honours.

By the way, whats happened to George? havent heard from him in a while.

Chris

If I had your collection of planes Joe, my D40 would probably also get overlooked a lot of the time. Still a cool plane though. So easy to carry up a hill  :af

Mr Steve Rainbow did some awesome flying today and correct me if i am wrong got a 173mph. (or was it 169mph)
Well done.

They could be the size of melons mate, but the sight of a D40 wobbling it's ass at those speeds then getting flipped inverted while heading straight for you is enough to put any man on the deck!!

1st time I think I've seen rainbow fly and some of the best DS lapping I've ever seen. A well deserved speed mate. Total controll every lap.

Very kind words Adam, thanks. I don't blame you for hitting the deck. Hopefully your big kahunas cushioned your landing. When that thing got flipped inverted it was definitely a moment to avoid. There was clearly some bad air on the way back up that lap. It's often a rough ride in that part of the circuit at that section of the ridge, but until then i'd never experienced anything like that.

p.s. Would someone be able to ask Andy to post it for RC Speeds? Thanks.

Was flying great, then decided it "needed" flap to aileron mixing and more elevator movement . . . . as well as camber . .
Have now decided, it didn't .  ;D

Would say "not a mark on it" but would be lying, the nose is scratched, but stunningly (considering it took significant effort to haul it out of there) that's all.

Silly good fun.

Earlier had been doing halpipes and managed to flickroll it on the exit from one, leading to an inverted and totally out of control pass either through or over a wire fence. hard to keep the grin off yer face flying one of these.
must stop being a prat and be more sensible tho, well, maybe.

Enough wind on Monday for your heavy build D60 to make an appearance?

Had fun flying my D40 yesterday. Only 3mph short of a new pb, if only for another few mph... Anyway, she did 177mph which was a real buzz! I was shaking and she was shifting.  :D

Had chance to try out "our" newly purchased radar gun today,  cant wait to get some dsing in now we have a gun.

Today was just frontside speck it out and dive it in flying but still had a laugh and a bit of fun, wind was only about 15mph but managed to get a 131mph with the D40, fastest dive of the day was 140mph with a Opus.  :af
Cant wait to try the D60 in a good blow.

I had a hairy flight with my D40 on Wed at HH. Graham (Deckit) radared it at 150something. Conditions were powerful enough for a new pb, which I set out with hopes of, but the conditions were also extremely rough and it was impossible to carve out the necessary laps. Most laps were a fight just to get it around without losing it. My legs were shaking and after 15-20mins of seeing it beaten up by rotors and sometimes rolled beyond 90deg during the bottom turn, I quit with my plane still in one piece. I took the risk, got away with it, but didn't get the reward. Another day maybe.

Well at least you came home with it still in one piece, thats the main thing.
As much as I would like to ds my D40 i wont  risk it incase i end up stuffing it in,  i enjoy flying it frontside too much :af
If they were still readily available i might chance it but as far as i am aware production of the Dynamic range it concentrating mainly on the D130 at the moment ???

If Joe is around he might be able to update us?

Offline Zim wrote Re: Dynamic 40s on December 30, 2011, 17:00:49 PM
Hey Chris

I can update you mate. The factory is producing all the Dynamics in the range all the time now - the D130 prototyping has been successfully completed, so it's back to business as usual. The D40 is a really difficult item for the factory to produce, so Joe like's to give them a bit of a break in between runs so they don't grouse too hard! It's likely that we will do a run of D40s in the new year. Right now, everything is available, and in fact, in stock. SlopeRacer has 1 D60 remaining from the last order, and 1 D80 as well. D40's not in stock, but don't worry - we will always be able to get them - just might involve a bit of a wait.

Hope this clarifies that for you.

Zim,

I will put my name down for a D40 after seeing and flying Cambrad’s on the front.  I found it so much fun to fly I didn't want to give him the transmitter back.

Chris,  Get Ds’ing your D40 and pass the transmitter over to me :af

It will be great to read about some more D40's doing laps. It all went a bit quiet for a while. Get those planes down the back boys!

If you want to sharpen up your Dynamic skills, the D40 is a great tool. A D40 at 150mph feels and behaves like a D60 at 250. So easy to carry up a hill too  :af

Hey dudes

Just to let you know that we will have three D40's coming in March time pending Joe checking them all out OK when he receives the delivery. As some of you know Joe has had a price increase and obviously this affects us, so they are slightly dearer this time around. It won't be by much though - I'll confirm it once I have the ship costs confirmed closer to the time.

Jonathan - I have you down for one. Anyone else, let me know when you can. They will be despatched/ picked up from Tony's place.

Cheers!

Did see Kiwi Steve ds his last years at MF and  if i was a betting man i would have put money on it going over 300mph when i was watching it, however i think it actually only hit the 160,s, ONLY, gulp!! Very deceiving,
always feels to be going a lot faster than it actually is, crazy little machines, love em  :af :af :af
