Recieved my 1/3 Scale YT International Super Cub today. Overall, it seems very good quality and all parts that involve holding the wings on seem very well thought out (there's 2 thick aluminium strips to replace the normal alu tube, the wings are bolted together with 2 shoes that stick out from the wing, into the fuzz to replace the normal hooks and elastic and finally, there are correct, scale struts that seem very strong). It's designed for 35 - 52cc petrol engines so my 240 Gemini should be ok for it. Pictures will be up soon.

James,

I am a Little puzzled $%&

Did you give YT a call with regards missing items before putting this on, also if you do not have any instructions how do you know what the contents should be. :''

I thought it common curtsy to at least give the Company the opportunity to correct things, if at all they need correcting. Instructutions yes, other hardware some you do not get a full hardware pack.

Have you tried the Gemini in the cowl yet? How well do the pots stick out the sides?

the only missing parts are the instructions, now sorted, and some lines on the bulkhead,  the lines are on back order,    nothing else is missing,  the missing parts mentioned are NOT supplied,     look up a few posts :)

Yep we need pics of the build so far.
What servos are you going to use in it and what radio set up are you using. Its a big model, so needs a safe system.

Hi, James
Good to see you got your Cub. Now I'm jealous! :)
Don't forget to use 3mm rods on the control surfaces, with metal linkages and Du-Bro heavy duty horns, like this. Not expensive, but very important.
Also You'll need failsafe setting up, twin battery packs/Twin power switch a must and make sure everything is 110%.
About flying it and other large models. See me, as I know a few fly-ins where space is no issue...
Happy building.
p.s. Thing is if I want one, I've already 'used' my Saito 300 up in the Robin 2160, So now looking for a Pegasus!

Pic 1: Dubro Horns. Really Heavy duty

I'm gonna use a spektrum AR9000, because it has 3 satellite recievers and tower pro 15kg servos. i'm aware that they do not centre perfectly but with the cub, it shouldn't prove to be a great problem. Planning on using pete tindel linkages.

What I like about the Du-bro is that they have a large footprint, spreading its load over a wide area and having 4 fixing points. Unless the wood is hard, the Pete Tindell single point fixing will sink into the wood and wobble. With large surfaces, you don't want flutter!

yours looks a lot better than mine  :embarassed:
i've got a bit more done now: all control surfaces hinged and glued, top canopy trimmed and screwed in, 2 x 24g servos installed to open the 2 door halfs.
i'm thinking of putting a 20 kg servo with closed loop on the rudder.
please excuse the 3'' solid foam wheels, they're just to protect the u/c from scratches while i'm working outside
build may be temporaraily slowed down due to errmm... an accident resulting in guey bits hanging out of my thumb  ::)

the bottom servo is hidden under the seat and the push rod comes out through a small hole in it. the top one currently looks a bit ugly and is mounted on one of the cross braces at the top of the fuzz.

note -  prop is just for spacing - it's only 16 x 8 so not suitable for the engine

I've got the Grob, in the background. Mine's an IC powered and detailed after the Air Cadets livery.

It's going ok, the wood seems hard enough to take pete tindal linkages so i've bought some of them, i've bought 8 tower pro servos and a futaba 148 for the tailwheel. and the r/c doors now work properly. That grob is powered by a 120FS and it has been given to me, along with the chipmunk that you can see the wing of. The guy who owned them is 89 years old and he hasn't flown for over 10 years and he didn't think he'd be able to get back in to it so he gave them to me  :af
