Could have built a Rafalroo cheaper and it looks like a plane to  :''  no need for getting any wings cut as it's all made from LMS stock  :nananana:

I have most of the bits (full £40 kits), but my problem is more the other way around, getting the time and enthusiasm to build 2 - at the moment, they're still sitting there in the garage waiting for some attention.

Gary - should should offer out a build service - solve all our problems :af

If anyone is interested still in being a pilot in our mayhem team, or would like to go on a reserve list, then please let me know ASAP. :af

you will need a B or have one by the time Hop comes around.

you will also need a gremlin, or roo, or norfolks very own rafaleroo type jobby ( apologies for sp error there nng!!)

As has been said before, you will recieve passes which will entitle you to free entry to Hop farm,  :co

you will also need to accept that loads of us will be flying in the mayhem, and that sometimes, quite occasionally, mid airs will happen, or your beloved gremmy etcc might get landed on at the end unless your pretty good at skittles.  :ev

Cant fly at my club right now, all barriered off as there is a airshow on this Sunday 12th.  I'm not feeling bright and shiny having taken my youngest back to Mankie land Saturday, the house is very quiet and I feel a part of me is missing.  I will either have to wing it on the Friday taking the "B" or just not come at all  :-\ perhaps the latter is the better choice.

Looks like at best I may (weather depending) get 1 practice flight in on the 15th as my local field is all barrierd off at the moment in preparation for the Seething Air Show + people milling around so unsafe to fly the area.

I think I will take my trailer to use as a caravan as I cant be @rsed to put up a tent  ::)

Lads, im sorry to say that you cannot pass a B on the friday at hop and fly in the show on the Saturday.

I have to be quite blunt here for saftey reasons and to let people get in practice.

You need to of passed your B at least ONE WEEK before the show.

All pilots and helpers need to be on the flightline at Hop by 6pm on the friday eve for a practice flight to see how we all get on.and for the organisors to see how we do.

Safety is paramount hence why i have to say what i have.

I have spoken at length today with the organisor of the slots, an email will be sent out to all pilots and it would be appreciated if you caould all respond saying if you have pulled out of the show for whatever reason as i know some of you have.

We intend to have a good time at the show, to fly safely, even if we only have a few up at hop this year, then it gives us much more to aim for next year.

Any questions, then please ask away.. I expect us to have at least 6 up. What we cannot have, is just 3 of you guys turning up to fly.

the list of pilots and helpers i have is::

Pilots.

NickK
JohnB
mudflap.......Caller
matt..............helper = dad    ( dazde)
pooh
norfolkngood
nasa-steve......
peevie
potty pickle
phillip w
me
simon wood
Si-b

Helpers:

skyLeader... Sunday only.
captain beaky

Kind regards

Maz.

If you can get your B in the next week, then your not out.

can you not go to another club seeing as yours is not flyable on??

The reasons being that you cant take your B on the friday and fly in the show, is that hop is very different to fly at .

I know you are a capable flyer Norfolk, and i am sure if you can get to another club which has 2 examiners, you will quite easily pass your B.

Unless there are 2 examiners at Tibenham this Friday and I can take the test at then end of the day when it's quieter (and with a non warbird  :'') there is no chance of getting any cert.

how much better are you going to get in the week between passing and flying at the hop, given you'll be at work and not flying in the mean time??  $%&
yes it's tricky, but just being a week old b doesn't mean a thing, you can either fly that layout or not, regardless of how long you've held it.

of more importance is being able to fly as a team, doesn't matter how good you are if you can't stick with a group have an awareness of whats coming next, and what that means for you.
the landing on the narrow strip is the easy bit
i know a couple of you were nervous at Weston in the evening with others about, that's the kinda thing and environment you need to think about, if it bothers you then don't go team flying.

the hopfarm is actually one of the better venues to go fly first time, ours was Sandown!!  :o

I know you believe you understand what you think i said, but i am not sure you realise that what you think you heard is not what i meant.

Cactus, I must admit I had similar thoughts but I'm less argumentative than you and wont argue with the rules the boss has set :P

If I am not able to get my cert by Friday than so be it and will have to work hard to make it happen for next year.

Arguing with a nutty women just wont get you anywhere. :nananana:

Anyway, flying as part of a team is important, everyone needs to work together.

At weston, those that flew i think did pretty darn well flying amongt the other rabble that were flying at the same time. :co

Why is it the messenger always gets shot?? they were concerns raised by a couple of people, and i happen to agree with them. I myself will more than likely not be flying at hop as i still dont have my B as i have been so busy with other things so havent had chance to fly since i last went out. Wont be flying this coming weekend either as i am busy. So unless i can get out each evening and the weather is fit... i wont be flying either but i will still be at the Hop. Besides, i ordered all the clobber today.  :''

Done that bit, just need the "B"  :embarassed:  Also flown in an unofficial show with many spectators which was no problem for me either.

Not killing the messnger here BUT it's ridiculou to say you must have passed a 'B' a week before it makes no sense. It is of course up to he organisers to make the rules but this one is plain daft, the euirement on the day should be you hold a'B' and b up to the task in had.

does make your point even more tenuous tho   :nananana:

it's not the crowd thats an issue, you need to know their there in the same way you should know theres a bunch of trees or a building behind you, neither are good if you fly into them
all that matters is staying as a group, if you can't do that you end up looking chaotic and the crowd looses interest.
i don't think the Reds came along with anything new, but we cracked the close group, best before was Weston with strung out Magnums and Tigersharks doing their own thing at different speeds.

theirs no reason at all if Roger is happy you can't pass Friday and fly the Saturday, unless even with the B your just not up to the task of display flying. Display being the important word, your flying safe, but also showing the models or team off.

not all Reds are as good as the others, and they do stand out a mile, but we manage with enough core fliers to make the whole thing work.

I know you believe you understand what you think i said, but i am not sure you realise that what you think you heard is not what i meant.

True, but I think (for my part) those nerves were from me and Steve flying the wrong way down the strip (although clearly called) straight towards £2K+ worth of 100/120/150cc machines.  Not too bothered about losing a Gremlin (it will happen, just a case of when) but taking out 110" of 3D airframe with it .... I'd rather not  :af

even so, you still need to have an awareness of where those 2k gassers were and still be able to carry on doing your thing.

Cheeky sh1t. ;D

I think they did brilliantly at Weston even with those flying in their way etcc.. :af

Oh we know you aint perfeck hun..  :nananana:

The concerns raised, we are a new team, not often flown together, which i think is an important thing to do even though others think not, ..and we are an unknown really in the show circuit.
Also some of the pilots havent flown at a show before and it is one thing to fly at a fly in, quite another in front of a humungous crowd where nerves can get the better of you plus the noise from the speccies and additionally, the commentry.

I am already looking towards next year and how we can be a bigger better team. It would mean more than one coming together during next year.. but it pays to plan in advance eh wot oh hedgehoggy one yes??

Not sure what happened at Weston (wasn't there), but your caller should be one step ahead of you, and warn you of what's coming up - bit easier with the Gremmie's as they're not so quick compared to the funfighters (although they can pull tighter  :ev, but there won't be much of that at the Hop).  When I'm calling for Matt in the funfighter slots, it's scary taking my eyes off his plane, and when I do, he has to do a little wiggle so I can see which one's him again  :co   They're all so tight together normally, that picking his out amongst the others ain't easy.

the caller, Maz was calling alright!  ;D
this was off the peg in the evening.
flying together is important, like i said even tho as a team we don't fly together that much, there are a core that will all throw funfighters up at once at the field, and those like myself which can happily join in even tho i rarely fly power, the others make up the numbers but as theres at least 10 it looks closer than it is.
it helps most of us are from the same club so we can do that impromtue quick flight at the field.
we also began by picking those that could fly, not just those who had fighters as it's kinda gone

crowd, DB, you don't hear any of it, just engines and calls, if the slots going well you start to get the buzz, then everythings locked out apart from the calls and heckling from your mates, there IS! a groove and when your in it theres not a gap you can't nail.

callers, never found them to be of any use, just a distraction i don't want. the ones i like best just stand there and keep quiet

I know you believe you understand what you think i said, but i am not sure you realise that what you think you heard is not what i meant.
