Thanks Drone, a good point,  As it happened, the revvs were as near as dammit to the original pipe. More luck than judgement then  ;D ;D

sounded nice too.  :af
It may have sounded less with a 15 mm stinger and the slight increase in back pressure may have added to the revs (low back pressure = loss of air/fuel charge) within reason of course.

ps sorry to, umm, drone on, it's my pet drum to thump. Noise is an invidious intrusion and even on sites where it is apparently not a problem may attract attention from antis who need ammo to shoot down those less fortunately sited.

I can't understand why the bmfa allows higher sound pressure levels in competition at the nats, both f/f and r/c, c/l et al yet has a code of practice for the hoi polloi that is enormously less. Didn't mean to offend or warp the thread just can't be quiet on the odd occasion.

Might have done, might not, doesn't matter now anyway. I was satisfied with the noise level as was my Club Chairman, and believe me, if it was anywhere near close to being too noisy he would have said.

What? You think I don't know that?  $%&

mud f, wasn't popping off at you at all or teaching you to suck eggs, I was really trying to explain why I was posting.  :-\
The thought of starting a thread on here about something that could be seen as controversial just isn't worth the hassle, the place has changed in recent times. :''
With regard to the bmfa, I've nearly reached my three score and ten, I'd probably pop my clogs waiting for answer from the old fossils (in the nicest possible way) up there.  :-X
If I'm still around in another ten years most of the free flight and control line technical committees will probably have predeceased me and I'll ask the question then, if they haven't seen the writing on the wall beforehand.
As we both said earlier it doesn't matter any more with regard to your plane, does it. $%&. $%&

Met up with Walts in Newmarket on Saturday, he took this video of my Jug...

It was very windy, complicated by the wind cross wind from over 30 feet hogh trees that were 30 feet behind us...... that made for some difficult rotors and sink and gusts! And a nasty bit of turbulance at around 5 feet above the runway...

Take no notice of the wind sock, that was sheltered by the trees too!

Watch out for the "comedy" take-off

Cheers Walts... :) :)

But gents, you're going off topic ......

This was the subject:

What a truely superb job Flapless Mud made of this aeroplane but such a shame he didn't get more pleasure out of flying it after all the hard work :'(

Perhaps it's time to think of another one Matt?

Remember the Duxford Blenheim?   What was it, about 18 years restoring it with a few months of flying before it was trashed?
Second time round it only took 5 or 6 years!

Go on man, you know you want one.

Alan

Hello Guys,
This, it seems to me,  is the video of the 60 scale.  Seems the 81'' would be a bit larger.  For instance the sound of the engine sounds like a nitro not gas.  The 81'' wheels are of the 5.5" variety and the cowl would fit over that flyer's head.
take care gang,
Albert

Albert, the video may appear deceiving, but It is indeed the larger model with a gasser up front, My lil Typhoon in front in this picture is a 62" model, the Bolt is clearly somewhat larger than that ;)

Oh, and Alan, It is all relevant to the original thread cos Stuey is gonna do a pucker Mudder's job on this one too ain't ya' Stuey  :xx  ;)

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... PM me a price yonder  :uk:

Trouble is, would need a recover, would I go tex, or glass, then what about the silly sized wheels....

Wouldn't the effort be spent better on buying something already done doing a new build?

Hello Guys,
Yes I need to keep working on my 82" from plans P-47.  First day of not 100 degrees F. today.  Shop was comfortable.  Yes thanks quit deceiving on the video....or maybe I feel it should look bigger after 10 months of work on my 82" P-47.  When I install my DLE55 then I will know the sound of a gasser.
Beautiful job on that one Walt.  Does anyone know what happened to Charlie's P-47...it sound like it wrecked.
Take care,
Albert, Phoenix Arizona USA

Mudder's was a 40cc petrol engine and was also the larger H9 (150) bolt.

Hope this does not bring too much pain for you Matt, but here is the "graphic" description of what happened next...
