I've had domed 'nuts' made in the past with threaded steel inserts......one end if which is permanently loctited into the domed nut, there is then a plain shaft of 3/4" or so to go through the prop, then another threaded section to screw into the prop driver..............................last few I had made were done by Colin Smith (Who I think is who makes them for Stuart)

:af I reckon I could make one of those  :af

Nice, but as you say pricey. I think it's a sign of the times for me at the moment, and I'm sure others, I tend to watch the pennies much more closely at the moment. I had a word at work, and a mate knows a mate who can make just what I need, he has all the knowhow and fancy equipment at his work  :xx he'll have a go at a nice scale jobby for me  :)

I had a look at Phils drawings today  :o :o If I do for it with all the rivets, I reckon I'm 1/8th of the way there  :D :D

Its not even a question of recession, even in the 'boom' times, by the time I added on shipping etc, it was just shy of £100 that's just too much for a spinners. I seem to remember that mine was £15 from Stuart M....

....going out the shed now to measure and photograph the u/c for you

Mudflap,
Your P47 looks great,I had the same shock when i tried to buy a commercial spinner nut for a Pitts,in the end i found a large ali spinner nut from Irvine £5 ish. A bit of work with a dremel and a pillar drill and it does the job,its just under one and a half inches in diameter,
         cheers Euan.

Phils rivet drawing is ace, but it's ment I have spent pretty much the whole day burning them in.

I have tried to follow them as much as possible, but because I started them from (what I now know to be) not so accurate three views, it is not 100%, but who's to know  $%&

Just thought you might like to know that the material we spoke of is lurking in my workshop.

I'll have a play over the next couple of days in between coats of primer and stuff

Done a little more,

I had a go at the fighteraces raised panel method using leccy tape and P38. It's easy to do, and quite quick  :) .

I had considered doing scale hinges for the tail feathers, but thats as far as it got  :-X It's an ARTF after all.
Just the elevators to do now.

Don't know yet. I need to get the paint off the leg. I am hoping to cut  a slot in the bottom to go over the torque links and then, once painted, (That's your department  :'' :'' :'') you wont notice.

You can dummy up the scale hinges usingh mylar strip. The strip simply flexes to allow up elevator and looks far more convincing than you'd think :af

Your P47 looks brilliant 'Flap :af :af

Is the Mylar recessed into the stab, and then resting on the elevator,  and where can I get some  $%& It's not that furry stuff is it?

Just run some tests on the new exhaust.

Thor45 CDI on 40:1 with a Menz 20x10 wood prop.

Old  Exhaust 6150rpm and 106DB at 7m
New Exhaust 6150rpm and 105db at 7m

So very comparable to the standard exhaust. Thats good enough for me as I was a bit worried it would be a bit louder. Once cowled fully the DB will be reduced further. I was also considering some MR ceramic blanket eithr inside the cowl or clad on the exhaust.

Wow, smoke and mirrors, nice one Ian.

You can get both furry and non furry stuff from most places, you local shop Pegasus/Galaxy will have both I am sure?
