Well done all - must have been a pretty satisfying days flying   :uk:  Note to self:  Must start investigating possible south east DS sites, and ditch the cheap Bushnell in favour of something that can pick up a model more than a few inches away...

Huge congrats to Abbo on his even faster UK record of 250 mph achieved today at PYF! :uk:

And to Graham Reed, who's upped his PB to 228 mph :af

Anyone who travels far to & climbs PYF on a speculative mission at this time of year deserves a big result.
Way to go!

Abbo:

Anything you are prepared to add for a hungry DS community?

Was there any noticeable wing flex on the MCT?
Was elevator authority unwavering (& were you using snap?)
What was the wind direction & speed?
Did the Prospeed radar pick up most/all laps at that speed?
Any idea what the average/typical period was of your laps? (Guess you wouldn't be counting yourself..... ::))
Were any naked girls braving the conditions?

 ;)

Hi guys ,,the mct was awesome in that speed range,as expected really!there was no visable wing flex to mention on anyone,s mct,but i am sorry to have to tell you all ,peny-y-fan is in a different league ...period,mark southall said to me after wards,"you have ruined uk ds now "because anyone wanting to chase  300mph is going to hav to use sites like this one ,with the correct set up and model ,300plus would be realitively easy to obtain as the air is that good.the radar started to struggle and mark reconed i went faster in some laps but we were getting about 2readings out of ten laps only.i was only in the circuit for about 15mins total...just dipping my toes really and she scuttled up to 250mph!the windows in the low cloud were very scary and sometimes the cloud base would just creep up on you as it did on marks run.he very skillfully landed his mct in cloud!i,ll let him tell you about that as graham was on radar rock with the prospeed and it was my job to look out for low cloud and rain heheh oops!graham flew superbly well in his 15min cloud window and easily went 228mph with fuss, mark s was 3rd to fly and by this time around 1430 the air and bouts of rain and low cloud were making conditions poor ,mark had no chance of going any faster than his 220ish laps in the air he was in,if having the section of air i flew in mark southall would have ,from experience "done the gun"as they say .mind you we joked about shouting out speeds of 300,300,300,300 stop now mark this is getting boring hehehe ,watch this space it will come (i believe mark is selling his prospeed if anyone is interested), i never thought i,d say this but....WE NEED A NEW GUN!

Thanks Mark, both informative & amusing as hoped :af

So, all the more stunning results, given the tiny weather windows - only one each it seems.

Great to learn that our top site is capable of delivering U.S. type speeds.

Think I can imagine a familiar accent with choice words, along the lines of:
"That's the last b....y time you're doing cloud lookout for me!"   ;D

Computer says your flying time at PYF cost about £10 per minute. Bet it was worth it.

(Got to go. About to get on the rowing machine - training for a PYF ascent).
