I've asked this question on another forum on a dedicated DS section.

Any idea here.

Is there any formula as to what wing loading would be needed for any said speed. Winds tomorrow are looking to be hitting 70mph on a favoured DS spot. The model I'm using is an old F5d Pylon model called a nemesis

I have a canvernous area inside to make a provision for Ballast. Is it just a case of get as much in as I can or is there a wing loading value to aim for?

I'm hoping to be on rushup for 8.30 / 9am for an hour before it swings. Keeping my eye on XC to see if it changes. If it's gonna stay SW I'll be off to Cordon hill

Cardboard:

Suspect you might not be alone at Rushup early tomorrow, unless of course the car park is full of DSers just sitting out the rain  :'(

Best place to put ballast will be toward the wingtips. If necessary (time, etc), hammer the lead as flat as possible & tape it on.
Might not look pretty, but likely your plane will go a lot faster before exploding :)

Shame you couldn't make it J - though we were back in the car park by 2:30pm having been rained-off . Not mega day but that didnt stop Mark Southall getting the UK foam record - 178mph  :uk:

New PB for Will of 123 with his dragon (that was before the winds picked up). I didn't quite crack 200 with the MCT, though Mark Abbotts did with 211 just before rain ruined play for the rest of the day :-\

Driving back, M1 northbound was horrendous  :banghead:. Glad we were on the other side which was clear...

ARgh never saw this. Well William, I got stuck in a traffic jam between J28 and 29 that was so bad the edned up opening the central reservation and took people back to J28 southbound. By which time I my sat nav said 2.15pm at rushup or 2pm at home. Seeing as I had to be back for 3pm I had no choice. Just would appear my lucks right out at the moment with getting to hills. I had a week off to go flying last week. First week off to go flying for years and ended up bed ridden with swine flu...hows your barry tuck.!
