Latest news from PYF is that Mark  (ASBO) Abbotts has broke the 250 barrier ....and there still going ........ :uk:

in the Cold and Wet.
Worth it for those speeds. Will the foam go over 200? will the mct's go 280?
Updates please

Not long back from FVT, Caleta de Fusta. Loads of great ridges just inshore of the coast line facing the prevailing NE wind. One I spotted even looked like it had a track running up the ridge for easy 4x4 access.

Although I need to get to grips with some of our Cornish DS sites before I get too carried away.

Nice one sj! Hope you had a good holiday.

Whilst the weather here in the UK is often wet, the upside means there are usually nice grassy slopes or some heather to land on. Landing being my main area of concern in the Canaries - all those volcanic rocks. That and getting the planes there and back in one piece (should they survive the landings  ;) ) Right now the thought of a comfortable 22degC, sunshine and almost guaranteed steady wind is quite compelling.

So, is there cause for a thread to work on this Canary Islands prospect?
A getting together of heads?
Mr. Ed also appears to be interested.

Imagine a winter trip to a warm, dry, windy DSland.

I'm planning a 2 month break. Drive down to Tarifa, stay there a bit on to collect chums in Tangiers and down to Marakesh the. Ferry to Canaries then back to Tarifa and home. It may stretch by a month if we decide to go to Dahkla.
Loads of room for toys in the truck and we'll do a few inter island flights in the Canaries.

Bit warmer in Canaries than in most of Cali at this time of year.
And realistic cost!

Went up today with Bruce after joining him in Buxton for lunch.
Was just a quick one as I was passing and wanted to try maiden my ballistic for the 3rd time, And finally it was successful.
Also took the polecat up.
But was not too interesting in DS'ing them as they are my 2010 60" Racing models.

Bruce went round the back but never got it back up. I think the conditions where a bit too crossed. Saying that I think he may have just gone in too deep. and well we where enjoying the front so much, why turn arround and stare at the sun for a while.

Hopefully one of the lads present will chime in to confirm, but as I understand from second-hand information our UK record fell again today, along with many new PB's.

Mark Southall pushed the record up to 255mph on the Skirrid in a 40mph westerly, I believe with his Opus MCT. He has also pushed the UK foamie record up with his Super-Reaper to 200mph on the nose - well done Mark!

Dave the Train pushed his PB up from 167 to 227 - that's a serious leap! Again with the ubiquitous Opus MCT.

Abbo may well have taken the record back from Mark S, but unfortunately their speed gun's batteries went flat half way through the day  :banghead:

And congrats to Andy_B who has upped his PB to somewhere in the 130's with his Reaper. Please confirm the speed mate.

Seems that we're starting to see a jump in speeds here, boys, with the Opus MCT being at the centre of things... And that's with Pace's due in, D80's due in, and a Wizard DSX arrived - 2010 is looking to be faaaaast!!

Well done again lads!

Zim

Hi guys, yep southall kicked me off me throne :'(,255mph well done mate ,and 200mph with his superstrong reaper(new stuff supplied by me),dave the train flew extremley well ,conditions were excellent but we were all hampered badly by the direct sun just as you come into the circuit, dave the trains pb was done in the opposite direction to his normal chosen flight path(clockwise)which was awesome, i also managed to get the opus round in a clockwise direction (cause of the blinding sun) at 245mph thikin we all came away with something learnt today thanx to clayton for showin up and helping with video and prospeed ,yor a dude clayt!video to come

 :nananana:
310 Mph and that was about 4 years ago. GPS verified as well not some Aldi speed gun. All done from the comfort of a nice flat airfield, 5 steps away from the back of the van, and even better still the flight container more variety than a chuck, some left hand circuits and a belly landing
Oh and the proper speed jets are set for this coming year.
P.S This is between Andy and I and is purely a bit of fun. If you dont like it then tough! As far as I am aware as a forum member I can post where I like. By all means if you have a sense of humor and would like to join in the debate/discussion/banter regarding the fastest model/ toy aircraft in the uk then feel free.  Oh... And he started it!  :''    Those that cant see this as a harmless bit of fun between two anoraks pointing fun at the silly little toy planes that each fly.. then sorry!

Is it not possible for you to have this bickering in a more personal fashion, Maybe a PM or 2. Or more it over to the jet section where others may appreciate it.

To me this is just more junk posts making finding proper information impossible.
