Schweeeeet!!
Has to be the easiest fitout ever if you have Thuro's linkage kit. I reckon other than the glue drying time (I used 30 min epoxy on horns, servos and MPX plug installs as I didn't have 5 min) I spent maybe 5hrs max, most of which was agonizing how close to the hub to drill the linkage holes. A 2mm drill (actual dia .189) was perfect for the links. I still haven't wanged some foam into the servo bays as I didn't have any lying around.
Only thing I did that wasn't mentioned by Thuro was to put a G10 plate connecting the bottom of the wing connector cut outs in the fus. This was just to make sure that the ballast rod didn't do any damage to the loom but has the added benefit of guiding the rod into place.

In anticipation, a bigger pic. The only probs I had with mine were a joiner 2mm too long and the port wing root hole for the connector was a bout 3mm too far back to make with the fus, so I filed out the fus slot as the connector was glued in the wing.

Interesting, I sense a mystery...

Absolutly :af

So as i understand the recomended c/g is 85mm

Mr eds and Mr Ellisons looks like there wing ballast is at around 90mm to the center? slightly behind the c/g.

So why has my wing ballast been put here? even further back and not leaving a wall between wireing loom and brass ballast? $%&

Sure there must be a valid reason, rite? im presuming mine was built after the other 2 i mentioned above so must be a revision?

Thuro mentioned on rc groups that he has moved hic C/G back, so ill pm him to see if its as far back as the center of my wing ballast as that would explane,

Finally got my hands on mine today!

funny how it was classed as a skinny fuse a year and half ago when I ordered it and now it's fatter than my race m, and the same as stregas, extremes etc.

For an allegedly skinny fuse it is certainly easy to get all the gear in there. There's a 1600 Intellect 4 cell pack under the bonnet and thats a MPX 6light Rx with a Voltspy taped to it. Using a short lead from the Rx to plug into the battery pack instead of a switch.
I haven't fixed the aerials yet as I want to take it to the hill to range test options. I think I know where they'll go though...

The new ballast tube is made for the option to use the Needle as a pur glider or as a E- Needle. The new tube is made for 2S Lipo's each wing half ( max height 8,5 mm) so its easy to decide if you want to fly electrified or not.
My intention was to share both options without to buy a special E-version. Am I wrong with my idea's ??? So if you built your Needle for electrical flights then you just have to remove the prop and the spinner, put on the cutted nose and fly a glider. The power comes then from the Lipo's with BEC. Believe me it works fine....
OK if somebody like to built their Needle's like a Hotliner then we have a special Akkutube for the wings where you can put in bigger Lipo's like 2500 mah.

Adam, whats the problem? you have to put in the 20 x 10 mm brass ballast rod's in front of the tube. A edge avoids that the brass rod can move back. The wiring plug is now easier to plug on to the fuselage plug. No need to glue the plug in to the wing root rib. The wings are easier to mount on to the fuselage.
If you use the wing ballast then the CG moves a little bit more backward. Thats no problem because with more weight you can go back with the CG. If you like to have the CG on 85 mm ( recommended) then you have to put appr. 15-20g into the nose  .

I hope I haven't made you big problems with the new ballast tube ???

Btw: Last weekend I flew on F3F Eurotour Donovaly/SLK a 40,2 with my first and old Needle 100, not so bad .

No problem Thuro ???

If they are all supplied like this now then thats fine. i was just wondering if i had been sent E wings by mistake, as Your web site translated saying that they are made on special request.

Hi, I'm working on a joiner sys which is strong enough for DS . The actually Joiner is very strong , especially the full CFK joiner but that doesn't avoid the problem with bending wings in higher G-forces. The problem lies in the area where the joiner ends.
Now the DS Needle will get 3 joiners  ;)!! nearly done.
