Nice one, Speedster :af

Also had fun yesterday, DSing my Destiny (3lbs/ 1.36kg) the "wrong way round" at Rushup.

Is that location little more than large sand dunes? On Jylland?
Haven't seen anything like a DS site in my Danish travels (the wife is ex. Copenhagen) limited to Sjaelland.

Top job  :af

Yes, the video with Destiny is sand dunes at the westcoast of jutland north Denmark, and the first vid here is from Rubjerg Knude, just north of Løkken,  and this is the biggest sanddune in DK,  250 feet high. :) and ok for DS.
But there is too manny tourist and when the wind is blowing over 16 knots there is a sandstorm, so you cant see anything and you get sand in your eyes  :'(
From Løkken to Skagen (west coast) there is slopes all the way, and at the east coast small dunes with DS + pikkerbakken (Frederikshavn240 feet high, but no DS here).

Same day and place as the Scratchbuild Alula video. Shows that you can get some speed with the right equipment, just on a little dune. :)

Shame about that SpeedsterDEN  :'( !

I am liking the look of your (not so little) site there. Looks like you are getting some good speeds and having a lot of fun  :af . I bet you could really wind things up in a good blow if it wasn't for the sandstorm problem.

Hi Steve
This site is not the place where the sandstorm is (Rubjerg Knude at the westcoast) This place is at the eastcoast, and no problem with flying sand  :)
Just found the slope 14 days ago, so its a big secret.
Even on Google earth, it is invisible.
The only problem is that you have walk 10 min. from the road to get there, But it is worth it  ;D

3m models are so much fun to DS like that. I wish I had the cojones to do it that well though! I've got a bit of a hankering for quite a while now for a 3m F3F model with a bit of a DS build... scratches chin...

btw Clayts - have you seen the F3J Fazer acro vids from Jones Pass? Can't look 'em up just now as the pc is on a go slow, but they are amazing as well - stunning what the guy is doing with an F3J model!

I'd be interested too in the speeds you're getting at that site with your Destiny.

Are you following the "pocket radar" thread in that other place?

Nice vid speedster. Got a destiny too, was my primary DS machine until I got an MCT.

A while back I looked for coastal DS sites in the UK - like Johanna in Australia. The thinking being that the strong onshore winds would set record breaking speeds. Didnt come up with much though  (other than Scotland / Scottish Isands / IOM etc, not very practical).

Really like the look of the Rohanna site, here's a video taken at the site

Whilst not strictly a DS video, this is a video of an intended DS aeroplane on one of its early test flights. 'Invented' by Julian Bailey and appropriately named, "The Stab", it has already impressed some excited fans. The world's smallest DS plane and smallest by far, it's impossible not to love it:

Video taken using mini keyring camera on Friday 06-August-2010. Please ignore the date+time stamp on the video. It's impossible to prevent the camera from recording it and it's a real hassle to set it to the correct date. Add to that, if you do go to such trouble (as I once did) every time the battery goes flat it reverts to Feb 2008 - therefore please just ignore it.

How where you, and how was the model? Must have been pain full. Big Bruse? Some how you still manage to control the model and get it down.

Bob Ryan, Gray, Shane Harding et al were flying 6" span gliders in the 80's.

It was me with the camera  :)
The pilot was very shocked, but just a few red marks at the shoulder and head.
And the glider landed itself without any damage, before the pilot could see what direction it went. ;D

15 minutes later, he was flying again. ;D

It's the DS childboard, Andy!

OK, so it's yet to lap, but its frontside performance indicates it has the speed.
Whether it can cope with a less than perfect shear layer is another matter....... :''

Bit too much wind it seems for an exploratory backside venture the day of the filming.

Oh well, evidently not the smallest soarer (I should have worded my post a bit more carefully on that aspect, just in case) but as soon as it turn a DS lap it will at least be the smallest DS plane. C'mon Jools chuck it down the back before someone beats you to it!
