Nothing special about this vid, just me dsing a flying fish at RE, still a bit nervous about using mouldies but each session gives a little more confidence and the fish is such a stable plane it is ideal for me to get some ds stick time.
By the way the wind on the day was 10-12mph s/w which is far from ideal but still ok for a bit of practice, it did however make for some very odd shaped laps !!
Did manage to get some reasonable speed towards the end of the vid.

That looks spot on Chris. No worries there. If you want any advice, then I'd just say work on getting that top turn in earlier. You want to apex is over the wall at least and no further frontside. Further back the better so get back under the shear asap. But looks good to me mate - nice one!

Skua feels free

Here at Toulouse, we're still looking for a good DS spot to beat UK :nananana:... but it's a long way and the one we've try yesterday wasn't so good.
Two Destinys have been destroy there just before the flight of the video. So i kept the mouldies in the car and fly my loyal Skua for a lot of fun.

I've yet to Ds my Skua S15, i built it as per instructions with no mods at all, prior to getting addicted to this "Dsing Mullarky" :D.  Wizzes around frontside lovely in big air, with no sign of stressing the airframe in hard turns. Just wondered how any of you have found it when Dsing $%&

Not really entertaining to watch unless your really int watching 8min of Ds launch / lappery / landings :af

Note how quiet and still the backside was compared to the front, You can even here the sheep in the valley, and allowed the capture of the models noise too ;)

Love the sounds of those D 60's & 80's :co, great to hear them rather than some heavy metal sound track & wind roar.
Gotta get myself to the Skirrid this summer :xx Makes "Whooshthump" look very small :embarassed:

Cool, glad you shared the landings, and I now have a better idea of what angles I should be making next time. Hopefully the heather will have grown to soften the landing next time I'm up catbells  :xx

All those really cool DSing Vids, where the guys carve the skies to within an inch of creation?
This, is nothing like that.
Couple of biffs having a go on a sand dune north of Aberdeen.

aah excellent find that,i joined in with these circuits later on in the week ,we were all being very reckless ,i was so pissed off with my vr 2008 peformance i was using my skorp to fly ds 8,s....stress relief :af,lucas had spent the night before (his 124" needle prototype)getting the wings signed by all the vr pilots, then on the day i was doing the figure of 8 dsing with them he smacked it into a tree at the bottom of the hill, backside, truro was not too happy as he was standing watching us all trying to ruin his creations :embarassed:

plonker!

Maybe ours don't grow where the wind is 30mph+ in the same direction ALL of the time?

With the amount of traffic the board gets may as well close it down?

Is It just me? or what?

I don't know about everyone else, but when we have a patch of not much wind I tend to push gliding to the back of my mind and get on with all the stuff I should have been doing when it was windy...

You can't make people post. But it would be a shame to close it down so the DS posts get lost in the noise of the main board again, even when the wind gets up...

Will
Thanks for posting the vids, absolutely brilliant, loved em both.
Really entertaining documentary style and having the commentary over the top made it even more interesting to watch.

Cant understand whats happened to the Ds thread recently, its really gone quiet the last few weeks and a lot of the regular posters and familiar names seem to have stopped posting. Why ???
Is it just that due to weather conditions or whatever that people have,nt been getting much dsing action so they have nothing to post?

I think the interest is there as a lot of topics get plenty of views but it seems not many want to contribute for some reason, i presume most are just happy "lurking" which is fair enough.

Nobody got any new ds projects on the go they want to share with the rest of us, im always interested in build threads even if its been done before its always good to see how someone else does it.

Maybe you have always fancied having a go a dsing but never got around to it, nows your chance to get involved and maybe arrange you first trip around the darkside. Im pretty certain you will be hooked once you have your first few circuits under your belt, its a buzz i remember well :af
Come on guys get posting, i look in here most evenings and its a shame when days pass and there is nothing new to read !!

Long live the Ds thread :af

Popped my ds cherry on the Skirrid a couple of weeks back, awesome how the polecat came screaming back up and through the boundary layer, the chap that happened to be there as well flying his opus reckoned i got it up to about 80mph which tbh  was quite fast enough for starters,a lot of what i'd read suddenly made sense, totally hooked now, poor old polecat took a beating but will be back after some repairs.Cambrad, that hp60 and skua that i bought off you are on DS death row too, only a matter of time now,got a d60 on the way too :D
Yeeee ha!
Woops, just realised this post is in the videos thread, sorry :embarassed:

Glad you enjoyed it Andrew, but if you think the polecat screams coming backup you are gunna be shocked at the D60, absolutely fantastic plane for both ds and frontside, steady as a rock.

The skua is a very good ds trainer and i would use that to begin with but the halfpipe will be much quicker once you have got the hang of consecutive smooth circuits.
 Enjoy :af

The problem is that all DS vids look the same, all the planes look the same, and other than going quite fast nothing really happens.  So therefore there is very little to comment on...

I have to admit every DS video I wantch, well pretty much any flying video I watch I sit there praying that they are going to bin big style and add some interest to the video, as I recon with these really expensive gliders there is potential for man crying upon kissing terra firma!

I think Will meant that the Ds forum in general has become very quiet recently, not just the ds vids thread.

Also i wouldnt say the last 2 vids he posted were run of the mill ds , much more interesting than the norm as it basically following the guys on a once a lifetime trip to the "mecca" of dsing, Weldon !
Having said that i know what you mean about one ds vid looking like any other, but i watch em all anyway ;)

Hi Chris, I think the main reason for lack of posts is that lots of the guys that used to post on a regular basis have deserted the ship...moved on due to a clash....their loss.
Though there seems to be an extraordinary lot of guests viewing the glider boards, are they just lurking and not signing in an posting ?
The glider boards seem now to be those that are interested in a topic and posting on that subject, not just posting to say what the latest moldie they have.  $%&
