Not having a clue about these things, is the hand held speed gun considered sufficient for that to be called a new WR?

I don't know but I was expecting to see lots of men in white coats and calibration equipment etc?

Very good effort though :af

They may even be able to something other than left hand circuits!

Not the same speed, but shows what fun you can have with DS aerobatically...

[..And there was me expecting to find a 400+ thing ....and its just another 399]

Andy (B): Me too. Yawn!
And a third WR thread........no matter.

Andy (S): A discussion has evolved on the "Pace VXE at T9Hobbysport" thread of early UK DS activity.
Ironically, a topic surely deserving its own dedicated thread.
And Will Deighton has added a video thread, which hopefully will attract some of the earliest vids.
But can you help to identify the earliest exponents &, possibly, the originator in UK?
Recall you held the RE record for a few years....... but never returned to up it.

Imagine the speed he could get by getting it up to height and putting it into the vertical!  I'd be happy if he didn't ease out of the dive either...   :''

Not as much as 399. But I'm not sure why you wouldn't want it to pull out?  ???

Assuming not all of your post is a wind-up, you are clearly unfamiliar with DS, which enables a plane to far exceed any speed achievable in a vertical dive.
Time you jet guys got some speed up :''

Right!
Not averse to a bit of combat DS, so long as there's no-one else around.

Come on Zim!  You should know that if I want speed I'll fly my F3D Dago!  Quicker than most jets!  My jet is purely for calm, peaceful flying!  :af

Never been into gliders, but if they can go 399 mph, I might take a sniff!!   :af

I will have a go at it all if possible ( Free flight to helis to giant scale )  But trying to find the latest secret hill to DS my PS vx T9, xy  ( Whatever other abbreviations are fashionable this week in the wonderful world of gliding )  doing left hand circuits while hiding behind a lump of wood while I wait for it to fall apart, and then come on the net to brag about going over 200 mph........ errrr  Nah!
Like Pat, I have done the going fast thing ( Some play with F5D, a FAI Dago sits in my workshop, a play with some pretty fast jets )   and am quite happy with our slow old jets thanks!   :''
While I am here, remind me, who in the Uk has been over 300 mph?   :''

Adam.. I had heard from some others who had experienced the wrath of the glider section here that sense of humor may be at premium..... Well nice one! You have just proved it. What was in my opinion (and I am sure the thread instigator will back me up on this, as we were having this same bit of banter face to face, as normal humans do.... at a jet meet of all places )  a bit of banter between the likes of zim, andy and I has been twisted by you into something far more than it was ever meant to be
Oh and to threaten to not shop with my business because of your misinterpretation.. well thats pretty poor. If that is your attitude then so be it.
Hobster... They are all toys ( Oh and before anyone else gets their dynamic soaring flight suits in a twist.. thats just my opinion )
Merry Christmas guys... and it maybe worth trying to just chill a little bit in the new year ( Ironic considering you spend most of your weekends up that secret hill dressed as a Eskimo's stunt double )

Andy B, Your post and especially your PM to Dunc calling me those names sums up exactly what I had been lead to believe about this section. To call some one a 4 lettered word like that, just because they dont worship all things DS.... Pathetic. Even worse when it was just a bit of banter. Given the nature of the post, who posted it, and where it was posted it does make me laugh that as soon as the banter is returned someone gets a quiver on and resorts to name calling and asking for the thread to be closed.
They are toy gliders/jets/helis/aerobats. Thats all thy are, nothing life changing. If someone doesnt think that your particular type of toy is the be-all and end-all of all things radio controlled then tough titty. Deal with it. Take your head out your ar5e, stop the name calling and asking their friends if they can have a word so they stop insulting their little toy planes.

Ali:

I don't know you.

But I do know you entered a thread on a board of no apparent interest to you & have contributed nothing positive.
Yet you have the audacity to remonstrate with those who are interested in the subject matter.
And the gall to lecture on sense of humour when you have displayed none.

All in the season of goodwill & cheer.
Congratulations.
I feel I know you so much better.

Deckit. Do you have any idea who posted the original and what section he posted it in? ( What was the intention of posting it where it was posted )  If not I would check first before making such a righteous post.  I have an interest in Dynamic soaring. If it flies I like it ( Not so keen on control line for some reason)
You guys so need to lighten up. I am all up for banter. Luckily I try my hardest to play with all different aspects of the hobby, and I can find Humor in pretty much every aspect.
 Andy.. no doubt about that!

Right chaps. Been reading this and I've decided that to continue to do my job as glider mod I'm better off dropping my pseudonym. Yes, I'm Elliot Ness to those of you who don't already know. I used the other name as I didn't want anyone thinking that I was doing it to try to be some sort of bigshot. Job needed doing and I'm happy to do it.

If anyone has an issue with me as your glider mod, please PM me.

Other than that, with regard to this thread, please can I appeal to all of your better natures and ask that you edit your own posts to be a little more generous in spirit! Right now, it's not a fun read.

Many thanks

Zim (Elliot Ness)
