anybody know where i can get brass rod 3/8 x 5/8 preferably cut into pieces 49mm long  (8 off)

Stainless rod.

Brass Rod.

Thin walled pipe filled with lead.

Are there large differences?

P.S metals4u.co.uk seems easy to use and they supply smalls qty's. Freight is a bit steep though.

Definitely helpful! Thanks John.

Lead is the way to go for weight even with a thin walled tube around it but better on its own.
Not a great deal between Stainless and Brass with brass being slightly heavier.

I remember hearing somewhere (Hudson Hawk, I think :D ) that lead and gold have similar properties. Obviously not if Gold is 170% as dense as lead.
