That will be fine.

I am keeping it to around fifty Pilots, so there will be plenty of
time for everyone to get plenty of flying in.

We need to get a good turnout to pay for the use of the field  and the Mustang.

At about 9:30 this morning you posted that you would not
be attending this event and I think you withdrew from two other events also.

About an hour later you with drew those posts,
unfortunately I saw your post and have now brought two reserves in.

Before you post things you should be sure that you mean what you say in them.

Because now you are off the Tibenham list.

Hi phil
both models are scratchbuilt and powered by crrc gf50i engines,The lysander is 124'' span weighs 40lbs and has working slats, flaps and opening front/rear cockpit.
with a total of 4 batterys and 12 servos.
The messenger is 122'' span weighs 38lbs has full cockpit interior with operating gull doors and 8 servos.
They were both built by me and a friend with the 'lizzie' taking 9 months and the messenger taking just 4.
The messenger has now flown plenty but due to its nature the lizzie is low on hours but im looking forward to flying both at tibenham.
regards
chris

Dear Chris
Thank you for the information regarding your excellent models.
9 months sounds a short time to build such a large and complex model as
a Lysander and 4 months for the Messenger.  :af

You must work from dawn until dusk on your models.  ;D

Is the Messenger finished like the one that  ferried Monty about?

I can remember flying a 71 span Lysander for someone some years a go.
that was quite interesting to fly.  :o

Hi phil
The lizzie surprised us how fast it came together but with two people on the job it can be done, however there was a period of about 6 months after she was finished of trying to work the bugs out (and waiting for decent weather). One of the biggest hiccups being the fuel load altering the cg during flight, because it has a scale fuel tank that sits 6-8'' behind the cg point too much fuel its tail heavy and cant be flown (the real lizzie altered its tail incidence to counter this)too little and its very nose heavy and may lose the elevator  :banghead:
Anyway all that sorted shes flies a dream not the monster everyone predicted the only two things being shes got a high wing loading so plenty of speed on takeoff and flapless landings and as the old saying goes lizzies arent difficult in crosswinds because you dont do it
The messenger is in the colours of field marshall montgomerys private transport RG333 (note the square rear windows) hence the 4 stars on the centre fin.
The messenger flys like a giant trainer and with full flap will land at walking pace.
regards
chris

Dear All
Just a reminder that it is just four weeks today, until the Tibenham event.
 Yippee!  ;D

My good friends from Ripmax and the Corsair club are going
to let me have a go with the large BH Corsair, which I am really
looking forward to.  :af

They are either very trusting or crazy, I am not sure which.  ;D

Below are some pictures of the Corsair.

I believe there were two P38's present last year,
which one are you referring to?

One belongs to Peter R. and the other to Graham B.
both are from the Ziroli plans

Hi Phil, it was that excellent one that you flew I believe that belonged to a gentleman in your club. I even think i saw it in 2008 at some colt fly ins. I will guess that must be Peter's version i am referring to...... did it have twin fujis... :study:

Dear Stuey
Yes it has got two Fuji's in it.
It is an over 20Kg model, unfortunately Peter
has not sorted the paperwork out for it for this year.

So as it stands it won't be able to fly at Tibenham
even though it is airworthy.
I think it will be there on static though.

A bit long range on the weather forecast there Stuey.
They normally can't get the forecast right from one day until the next.  ;D
Having said that the aviation forecast for the Tibenham event last year was spot on.

It is only two weeks now and I can hardly contain myself.

Below are some pictures of an excellent day we had at Coltishall
about two years a go, enjoy.

As an aside, Galaxy models are after some pictures of models built from their kits.
It is the 50th anniversary year of RCM&E, some of the pictures will be included in the magazine
and on the RCM&E website.

I shall bring the Galaxy Mustang, sadly I doubt that it will fly as I am still waiting for some bits and bobs to finish it.

I shall have my Black Widow though  :af :af :af It should hopefully fly before the Fenland bash  :xx :xx

Dear Charlie

Those Black Widows fly really well and look very nice in the air.
The Ripmax boys brought one to one of our events at Colt,
it was nearly a full year after that before they became available.

A friend of mine also had one, he had two for strokes for power.
It really did look and sound bootiful.  ;D

Glad you said that. This one is the ex Ripmax display model. I have two new SC46's in it.

Hopefully get it fired up after the weekend  :xx :xx :xx

I am concerned about losing an engine, but in the Ripmax write up they state that it flies ok  $%& $%&

Dear Charlie

I don't want to tell you how to suck eggs but here goes.

If you lose an engine, the first thing most people do is to open
up the throttle to full, to compensate for the loss of 50% power
(in the case of a twin)

This is understandable but it is the worst thing you could do.
You need just enough to keep the model flying and no more.

Use generous rudder to take the yaw out, due to the asymmetric problem
caused by the engine loss.

Never turn towards the dead engine, even if that means landing down wind.

If the model goes in to a spin (which is highly unlikely with this model, unless you are really crass with the controls)
and you have enough height.
Close the throttle, neutral ailerons, forward stick and full opposite rudder.

When the model stops spinning gently apply power (if you still have it)
and recover normal flight.

Sorry for going on, you probably know what I have written already.
If not I hope it helps you.

And I am sure everything will be fine with the test flight.
Good luck.

A lot of memories in that first foto Phil...

i seem remember the pup on the far right of the top picture was victim to a "what's that fly like then..... $%&"...   ;D  The pup now belongs to mudflap, i bought it from stukno and it was a founder member of the dwarf patrol.... in fact this BoB event in 2008 was the first session which included Pupcam i think...

The morane made the inaugural and very windy dawn patrol event at wings and wheels in 2008 i sold it on to 2.4g shaun and is still part of the dawn patrol.

The dr1 was sold to greyfly who repainted in black and white and then sold on to norfolkngood. If you look on the classifieds here it is currently for sale...
