With the sucess of the D40 cup, we started a D80 Grand-Pricx,

Currently with 4 contenders (any more takers?) here are the standings,

Adam Richardson     232mph

Warrick Smith (zim)  204mph

George Pilkington    199mph (then lost his Bokkle :'')

Will Deighton           166mph

Nice video! Definitely could have used a couple clicks of left. I saw a constant left control input. I usually trim the model so it will stay on that line without any aileron. That laft input given 5 or 6 times per circut will slow you down a good 25+mph. I know its hard to think about when flying but maybe next trip out try it and see what I mean. I have watched old videos of me flying and saw the speed drop 40mph in one pass from one unecessary correction.
Nice flying and it sounded awesome. And no snow to boot!

Lol! that's a relief, thought I was hearing voices...

The D80 ripped a hole in space-time and let Jane Horrocks through?

Yeah thanks a lot for that guys - really generous of you  :af

Stinker of a day for me today with the D80! Flew like a complete tool - for some reason I just felt a bit nervous about it all - had one of those "funny feeling" days so I was flying it way too high all the time. Still, it did a great job of keeping trucking through all the crap air I was putting it in, so the model was still doing great. BUT that's not fair to Will - he flew the best I've seen him fly and comprehensively whupped my ass fair and square! Well done mate!

So far though, check out the D80's destroying our PB's.

Will, pre-D80: 124mph. Two sessions later - 160mph.
Me, pre-D-80: 169mph. First D80 session - 204mph.
Adam, pre-D80: 183mph. First proper D80 session - 211mph.

Nice!

Z

Conditions may not have been perfect, but what a load of fun after such a long DSing drought!  :)

It's meant to be self-deprecating! We debated it long and hard in the car on the way to the Skirrid as to whether it should be "Grand Prikx" or "Grand Pricx" and Adam decided on the latter as it's more subtle - he's British you know  :uk:

Today's update from the D80s. Unfortunately I couldn't make it due to work, but Will, George and Adam went up to Rushup today to get a slice and kept me posted on the phone.

George has flown his D80 only once before, but hadn't DSed it yet. First flight he spun it up to 160mph, upping his PB a fair way. Will went up and upped his PB by 1mph to 160  :af

Then the boys went off again, with George really excelling himself with a 199mph - well done mate - stunning  :uk: and Will pushing his PB up again to 166mph. Adam then quickly put in another flight just to make sure that George didn't take the Grand-Pricx for the day, and popped in a 204mph. Pretty awesome for George to hit 1mph short of 200 on only his first DS day with the D80. What a model.

So all in all, another great day for the D80's with the George and Will upping their PB considerably. Well done lads!

Sadly, though, commiserations to Hobster for what sounded like a very unlucky crash with his MCT - sorry mate  :'(

Hi Guys

I got to watch today - those D80s really are awesome, and so, on the quiet, is Adams Tank..

I saw both Georges 199 mph and Adams 200 plus - well done to both of you.

Commiserations to the Hobster who "landed" as I was arriving - that Opus was really going well too, up to that point...

Nice to put some names to faces too..

Thanks for the invite adam, really enjoyed it.

Must have a go myself this year...

Tim

Thats what you say now, but I know its just a matter of time before you are putting the pieces back together. Fuz was quite mangeled, but no worse than the other opus you fixed, and 2/3 of the wing is very repairable, and the other with a cunning plan could be as good as new.

We had to search quite hard for the servos, 1 servo was pushed up the wing, the other 4 strewn around the area but all recovered.

I did not have a very good day, but saying that I spent allot of time going fast (140 to 160 which is fast for me). And when I can string some good laps together on a good day it will be great.

Yea had a wicked day today.
The Dynamic is one well wicked plane for sure.
I had only flown an 'instillation lap' at the skirrid the other week. (decked the d40 and bokkled it...)
So today was the day to turn a few laps with in on the backside where she belongs.
5 mins messing around on the front and I chucked her in the back.
WOW, super smooth, super nice, super easy to fly nicely.
166 I think was the best lap.
Nice landing too, she realy stops very well.
2nd flight managed to get up to 199mph. Cool.
Lovely Joe, thanks for such a nice, well manored model.
Thanks guys for a top day.

Never having been to Rushup myself i always wondered what the frontside of the wall looked like. In all the vids i've seen before its not really shown. I imagined it would be a lot steeper though, is it just the vid that makes it look this way $%&

The S'ly facing side is rather less steep.

But just steep enough to allow DSing in a N'ly wind too.
