Located on high ground (relative to the surrounding area) with chalky soil underneath, we're fortunate that flooding is never a problem.  At worst we get a few slightly slippery muddy patches between the car park and the pits area.  I do feel sorry though for those who've not been able to even get to their strip for several weeks...

Access is fine, we have a hard track, and we've kept flying, but the surface is quite damp.

Not a problem, unless you find a puddle, at which time the arrestor quality of the standing water and soft ground make for some entertainment and good natured ribbing by those watching.

I think for this year my ratio of landings that I've been able to taxi back to the flight line, versus ones where I've had to go and retrieve a model sitting on it's nose, or back, is about 1:6 or something like that :''

Last time I went I was lucky to get the car back out again. Strip on top of a hill, entry low to land both sides and path to patch steep up mud.  Now after MUCH more rain, I certainly won't be going there for a while!!

My garden in the early 80's used to get a wet strip across the end briefly in heavy rain which soon went, and it never came back at all through the 90's and noughties.  I'm on a hill close to the top but on the slope and look down onto roofs.

NOW, well it's a marshland the full length of the garden and the plastic frog sandpit down the end my grandkids play in is very nearly swamped, which means 8" or so of standing water.

Just seen a Redwing there, first in nearly 40 years.......surprised it's not Swans.................   :''

Never mind, still got the RC Boats....................   ;D ;D

The only things flying in and out of one of my clubs are ducks. It's disapeared under an inch or two of water  :'( My other club is not so bad, flightline is fine just a few puddels else where.

Keep meaning to build a sea plane twinstar like bustergrunt did on here. That was a great idea and sure it would work from some of the lakes puddels on my first club  :ev

I dread to think what Pheasant_Plucker's field is like, the last (and first) time I visited it, it was like a mud bath.  :ev

hi all
i've not been to our strip for about a month  :'( last time i was there it was pretty soggy and ours is on top of a hill with good drainage. the back garden looks like a marsh with grass dying off as it been under water for a few weeks and i'm on relativley high ground as well.

Our field is over a reclaimed gravel pit, so the drainage is very good.  It still gets a bit muddy though, mainly due to the football players churning it up.   It's still flyable the day after rain, however.

I fly at two sites.  The nearest one is a farmers field on top of a hill.  Gets pretty soggy, muddy and soft underfoot after any rain, but as long as the horse riders stay off the patch it's flyable - models just get covered in mud on the underside!  :)

The other site is an operational airfield with 7000ft of runway East/West, and 5000ft of runway NE/SW.  Flyable all year round, as long as the full size aircraft aren't getting in the way!  ;D

I walk the couple of miles up to my favourite slope. Last time I tried to fly there I couldn't find a route where the water wasn't deeper than my wellies.
Back to the cliffs then...

We have been lucky this year so far. Very little rain, even the snow has been melting off quickly. Quite strange as the ground has been frozen for two months. Location, Fort William.

No Rain, Light wind. Please :-)

We have a tarmac access road and proper hardstanding for a carpark. Pits are concrete.
Field is boggy, but us Heli fliers are just great, we can fly anywhere!  :ev

Here in East Anglia, most areas are saturated if they are very low & flat. Viewing the surrounding countryside from the M11, a lot of crops are standing in several inches of water where the drainage can't cope. I belong to two clubs, and from what I hear (I hibernate from November to April.Sorry, just can't stand mud ;D) the fields are OK. Depends what you mean by OK I suppose, my garden which has very good natural drainage, is getting cut up just from the trips from the kitchen to the compost bins, so I'm not so sure.

Singapore just had its driest February for 140 years  $%&
Our field luckily has good u/g water so the grass is still lush other areas are decided brown. it's just swings and roundabouts; sometimes it's just to hot to fly and we have to drink beer by the pOol side. :ev
I hope the Summer turns out better this time for you guys. :''

Just got our water bill, and with it the usual glossy magazine/leaflet telling you all sorts of things you didn't relise you didn't want to know about water...

Including, a chart showing last year's rainfall (at least for Surrey.)  Seems that the 8 months leading up to November had a total rainfall 23% down on the long-term average.  But then November had almost 3 times the normal amount, followed by December, 57% up on average.  2009 finished with rainfall 12% higher than average.

I'll have to keep the chart handy for the next time they start talking about a hosepipe ban... ::)
