Gordon Bennet, Ali - is that your personal "stash" or is it some of the old stock that you're still hoping to sell?

Looks like there are some potentially interesting kits in there!

Didn't you know that the model retail trade was quiet?  :''

Its a small portion of the old mans collection. What started off as a bit of fun ( Him trying to get a kit that he wanted as a kid) has turned into quite a collection of vintage kits, radios and airframes. I was probably the worst for ripping the pee out of him when he first started, and now I find myself looking for some of the models that I either had, or lusted after as a kid :-X
A few more pics of the collection. Sad thing is, that is has now out grown the space he has for it, and is separated between three locations. These photos are the majority of just whats in the shop.

Why is there never a "deep envy" icon when you need it?

He's never going to build all them, you would need four lifetimes just to build them.  :D

Picture #5 has the collection of 19-25 size Pilot kits, which I built a lot of in the early 80s (superb kits). I had the Pitts S2, but fitted it with a Super Tigre X45 (with transverse silencer so nothing stuck out of the cowl except the needle) and it was a really *fun* aeroplane.

I've still got the Zlin Acrobat, originally fitted with an OS40FS. Another fun aeroplane - superb flicks and lomcevaks, but never try to 3-point it because it would tipstall before you got the tail down! I was thinking of converting it to lecky, but I seem to have lost the cowl (if anyone has a spare cowl for one I'd be interested!).

The rest - I can remember them from my early years! Why does he need several of each? Would he consider parting with any of them?

Hands off Pete - These are needed for the BMFA museum so we need Ali to hold on to them until we build it!  (And then loan them to us).  Could be a long wait, but it's something we need to get done before all our heritage is lost forever. :-\

Don't be a wimp Pete, get it flown with a good engine in it.  :af :af :af

That is the first time i have ever seen a kit of one of those!  I have been out flying the MFA Chevron 2 and the Dirty Birdy today, i am willing to bet that your dad has one or two of those.

Good God, a Pilot Lake Buccaneer! I had one of those 30 years ago........  :o

I flew many of the others too for a bloke who built a lot but didn't fly very much at the time (thanks Bill). My favourites were the Zlin, PT19 and the little Cessna they did. They could be overweight if not built carefully, as they used excellent quality ply which was quite heavy. No liteply in those days.

Jeez, not one Veron Big Impala kit, but six!!  :o  Just think of all those plastic wing ribs.......

And four Veron Cherokees! Makes my one look rather pitiful.

I knew Ali had a lot of old kits as he purchased quite a few from me when I was disposing of an old friends stash. Top Flite Schoolboy , Royal Corsair plus others that dont spring to mind. Thought he was starting a museum with them.

Wasn't there something about the Curare being the kindest way to deal with aficionados of F3A?  Or was that another PDR? ;)

Wow!  Thanks for that photo Pete. Brings back such great memories.  I loved Ford aerodrome.  I also remember that arrow as well. The owner was a great guy called Javid. I will never forget the model going vertically into the runway, leaving two lines where the leading edges impacted, and a hole in the tarmac!!

Not an intentional manoeuvre then I take it.  Incidentally, Ali, does your dad have a Flair Meteor 40 by any chance.  The reason I ask is that I have an unused fuselage and cowl etc, but the wings were discarded as they had delaminated.  I'd be keen to be able to measure the root and tip sections to get some new ones cut.  I wouldn't want to interfere with the kit other than drawing carefully round the root and tip of one panel.

Doesn't sound like me - why would I be looking for a *kind* way to deal with F3A flyers? I'm much mire likely to be putting carborundum dust and chilli powder in their vaseline...

I was at my local flying site today, i test flew the last of the Chevrons i have been renovating. When i bought it the previous owner said it was built in 1976 (the year i was born!) as a Mk 1and flew for a few a couple of years before it was modified with a built up profiled tailplane with a similar shape to a MK2. The yellow Mk2 has a built up profiled tailplane and fin and came from the same seller.

Given it was so old i was a little concerened at how strong it would be after all these years . . . . but it was fine! flew very well and the OS 55 AX was perfect! gave the Bullet an outing aswell, have not flown that for a while. The weather today was unbelieveable! so crammed in as much flying as possible.

Hopefully out again on Wednesday test flying the Kamco Kossack and Kavalier.

Great to see there will be 4 pages covering retro aerobatics  in the April issue of R/C Model Flyer in the shops on a few days.  Great coverage of PB Models resurrected Crescent Models and Cambrian Fun Fighters.  I suspect that quite a few of the models featured in this thread are included.  Buy a copy soon!

Excellent - Tying that thread back to the models involved will hopefully encourage people to come and see them in action!  Must now see how far that is from Bristol!

It remains open so you will be fine, models are flown on the other side of the airfield.

Cheers

I've finally finished my Bullet, well part from needing to replace the bullet text on the wing which I applied before adding the second stripe. I'm looking forward to hopefully flying it on sat, weather depending.
