Despite having this jet for quite some time now, this was the first time I had actually had it all together.
It was designed and built by a very prolific British modeler by the name of Steve Rickett. He is a master at light weight balsa and ply construction. I am not sure what the model weighs but can tell you that it flew and flew well with just a P-120.
Pretty much all of it is scratch built, and superbly detailed. It's amazing to see real craftsmanship like this up close and personal.

That looks rather superb - good old fashioned craftsmanship - can't beat it  :af

The old memory cells are jangling away here.  Steve (I assume it's your creation) - haven't we seen this elsewhere on the web, or in a mag article somewhere?  It looks very familiar...

Mike,

There was an Aussie one featured in one of the mags recently, is that the one you're thinking of?

I agree about the craftsmanship, can't beat it :af :af

Dunno Mark.  The flying pics looked very familiar and there can't be too many of these around (particularly at that scale).  Knowing my memory it could have been several years ago...

Stunning
Love to see craftmanship like that - that particular aircraft has a special meaning to me too, since my Dad used to work on them.

I didnt realise that Daz.  Cool.
The first time that I actually saw the model was in an issue of a full size aero magazine ( Flypast or similar )  It was that very same nose in shot that Steve has posted here ( Which I think really needs to be put into black and white  ::) )
As for the model now.. I purchased it with the intention of competing with it at the World Jet masters events. Steve did make me aware that he was worried about the structural integrity of the airframe as he built it so lightly. The idea was to get the wings opened up and reinforced ( as well as a bunch of other updates and changes)
However, after allot of thought I have decided to scrap that idea and keep the model for static display. It looks so good hanging in the Jet centre. I may even dig out the Old Gloster Javelin that Steve built many years ago and hang that next to it.
 Regards Al

I didnt realise that Daz.  Cool.

Used to work on Vampires too - if you could add one of those to your collection it would be even cooler  :af
