M8 , im not on 2.4 ,
I used a GWS 6 channel micro reciever under the wing seat pushed back towards the Tail on the last 1 , that leaves ample room under the wing for my Ubec , i put the servo in the front as far back as i could get it , so right at the back of the cockpit , that would leave enough room for a 1/3 aa pack , but i use 900mah 2's LiPo, and a small amount of lead in the front , also when you fit the servos in the wing mate and got your control surfaces right , check the balance , a small sliver of lead in a wingtip will see it balanced :af

Have you gone for a standard-build : looks as though that should be pretty quick.

I'm going to go for CliffHanger's mod with a rudder, and may complicate matters by making the h-stab & rudder removable to make this an easily packable model

Cheers, Geoff

 Col ,

CoG is ok at around 70mm , some have it back at near 80 mm , but thats not comfortable for me , its bang on at 72 mm  :af, and with the bigger battery its at 68mm for 25 mph +  :af. Hope it helps mate ,
Also , i found its better to wing balance on the plane m8 , just used a flat surface let it rock one way or the other , add the little bit of lead to the very tip of the rased wing tip till neither side drops more than the other ,
        Then Fly it  :uk:

picked it up from the Post office this morning , even the woman behind the counter thought it bad they charged me VAT , and then Royal Mail charged me even more than the cost of VAT for the privelage , Anyway after work tonight on close inspection , the Stab has a crack right across . so its a duffer . Awaiting email from Aure at R2 as to what they are gonna do , i know i could fix it , but at £60 now i dont see why i should , anyway heres a pic so you can see yourselfs .

The Speedo story continues, :o $%&

I received an Email from R2 yesterday asking to send pictures of the damage to the plane and to photo the box , they wanted to claim on hong Kong postal insurance , but as i pointed out in the original complaint Email the box was in perfect condition . :banghead:

The reply i got today was in pigeon English ,
which you have to try and fathom what they are actually trying to say .

Ok they haven't got another fuse as a spare part , but they will do me a very special offer to buy a New 1 and keep the old 1 as spare wing and fin , Trouble i think is that Ive paid near as damn £60+ for 1 at the moment , which i guess i was unlucky , but if they send me another 1 then i could get stung with another VAT bill for something that's a replacement .

I may just give up Slope Soaring in a min , and take up Knitting with my Mrs , :ev :o
But i will see how cheap it is , and I'm certainly not paying for the postage again .

My Speedo wing looked to be over-ironed. The balsa was showing through the film. It is just cosmetic really but a bit irritating. I had a few emails with R2 (and it's always a bit trying as English isn't their first language but they do their best) and the best they could offer was 10% off a new one. No way I need a whole spare for 10% off (and I didn't get stung for VAT) so I just put it down to experience.

Still I have my Luna to fix, Sagitta to sort, finish covering my Weasel and then start glassing and try and finish a pre-loved Phase 6 I have. So it's not like it's going to get built any time soon!

I just had another look at mine and I think it's just that the ribs have been laser cut and it's the scorched edges showing through the film.
All being well mine will be getting an airing tomorrow as I'll be making a long overdue visit to the slope (LMMGA).
It really is a sweet glider to fly and can turn low and slow without any tip stall or other bad manners. Best £34 (delivered) I've ever spent on a model.  :af

Here's a pic from back in January just as a reminder to show what a hard bunch we glider guiders are.  Fly in owt if the winds right!  ;)

Hi Aure/Leona/Herman

1.  The 2Ch RC EP 1.2M Speedo Pro Mark II Glider that i've paid £50 for was supplied Damaged. I notified you straight away , with photos and Emails.
2.  You Do not have a replacement part to send me FREE of charge , so Leona offered me to keep the Damaged 1.2M Speedo Pro Mark II ,and i would pay the extra for spare parts i don't need .
3.   I don't need more parts for models , But as a Loyal customer to R2 hobbies and revolution shop i would try to help you and pay for the spare bits . please understand you are not helping me , you should just supply the part that i received damaged , I shouldn't have to meet your shipping costs for supplying me with a Damaged Item.
4. I am only willing to help the situation and pay £20 GBP / $30 USD for the parts i do not require . This is all i am willing to pay ,
That would take the cost of 1 working speedo pro mkII  over £70 / $110

Please Understand , I only want to have the plane i've already paid £50GBP for , i have received broken bits that are not functioning .

If this is not acceptable i would like a full refund because I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A WORKING 2Ch RC EP 1.2M Speedo Pro Mark II Glider .

            I hope you understand

            Kind regards

            Bob Runyeard

I am sorry to say that this is not an offer i would accept ,
I have paid £50 GBP for the original 2ch rc ep 1.2 speedo pro order - 143584, it was a faulty Product you sent me ,
So i have already spent £50 GBP for a plane that is not useable , i am at the most willing to pay £20 GBP for spare parts i dont really require , This is not because i want to buy a spare wing or parts , its because you dont have the spare parts to replace the broken one you posted to me ,
my problem is that i dont have a useable plane , and i am not willing to spend another £44.58 GBP for a Fuselage that should be replaced by yourself at no cost to me,
My offer is this , i will pay you £20 GBP for the rest of the plane that you should replace , The postage cost should be met by yourselfs because i havent recieved what i payed for,  As in a working ARTF speedo mkII , because the Damaged part makes the Model completely useless,
If this is not acceptable i will have no alternative but to ask for a full refund for the Non functionable items you sent to me , i can do this through youselfs at R2hobbies ,Or i will deal directly with PayPal to get the money back for a product that is not working as understood when being purchased.
Im very sorry , but to ask me to pay postage for something that is clearly down to R2 hobbies is wrong , you should Replace the broken Item with a New fuselage , you say you are Giving me a special offer , but unfortunately its Not , i only originally paid £5 GBP more than your SPECIAL OFFER .

Please advise me as soon as possible as to what you are willing to do to resolve this
Problem , a problem i would like to point out is not the fault of the myself .

               Regards

Well i managed to maiden it tonight ,
The wind wasn't playing but the speedo went off nicely , couple clicks of Elevator saw it working its little magic , thought i had a problem with a wing dropping periodically, turned out the wind went from West north West round to North West so almost wrong to fly off of cliffs , But it needed doing and i wasn't going to maiden it off of the ~~~~~Bungee  :af

Anyway, one other thing , i bought 4 of these E-Power 8.5g digital micro servo from Giant Cod , i gotta say I'm very impressed with the speed , Ive never seen them before , but i will get some more , I really am impressed with them. Anyone else tried them ?

Really Good Quality at a very reasonable price , just gotta see them last the test of time  :af

As a matter of interest has anyone had a Speedo II with a white fuselage?  I thought they only did the new, stronger (and it is) fuselage in grey. If that's the case I worry that the replacement you're getting is actually off a Mk 1 which you could only get in white. It'll still fit but will need reinforcing in the wing seat and canopy areas.

On the topic of custom charges I read somewhere that Chinese customs are tightening up on exporters using "creative" values on the declarations which is why you can run into bother with UK customs, and as others have said I could live with the VAT charge but Parcelfarces collection charge really ticks me off.  I got a Bulero off eBay from revolutionshop (R2Hobbies) on similar timing to the above events in this thread and did not get charged but I think that this is going to become much rarer in future than it has been in the past  :'(

No m8 ,
Its the same as the Grey but white (all white looks better than white and grey),
Ive had 3 different types over the past couple of years.
Plus ive still got the grey Fuse with cracked fin which has a foam wing coming for it , and will i hope end up with a "V" tail  :)

Wow -  these Speedo’s really do rock: Just returned from a great afternoon at Brean Down (Bristol Channel’s answer to Portland/The Great Orme - OK it’s only half the Orme’s height but you get the picture ;) ). With the wind 20deg East of North, the coastal lift was superb, and I alternated beween flying the WR-Fox & Speedo, until the wind eventually died & I headed back to the carpark and a cornetto

:uk: Now for the best bit - sitting on the sea wall I realised the wind was back but now in the west, and hey - those seagulls are cruising the wall with no flappy-flappy. Hmm - nasty looking boulders in the wall: shall I/shan't I? Well the feathered guys can do it, so why not me?

Launch out with the Speedo.... a few test flights (landing out on the sand) until I found the "sweet spot", then finished the arvo sloping along the wall, until my transmitter low-battery warning called a halt. What an epic blast... :af

£48 inc postage ,
      The quality is excellent ,
I have to cut servo holes and Ailerons , not a problem though , i will run the servo extension behind the Aileron hinge spar, which i will put in made of Balsa , i will add a Hardwood leading edge , and join them with a nice 4 " wing bandage.

Will put up some photys when its being done , probably end of the week should see the wings finished  :)
Knowing what i do now after seeing the wings , £48 is quite expensive , but if you didn't have the glass at the trailing edge then it would be cheaper , if you didn't have blue foam and just had white it would be cheaper , So i think there are cheaper options . :)
