Was that the one on flea bay Simon ..........looks lovely
I haven't actually got enough channels for all the servos in it (11) so I may have to link some (the split elevators and perhaps the pop up airbrakes and wheel brake perhaps?Simon
Fly it? Fly it? Are you mad? It's purely a garage ornament...Si
That looks great Simon. We get the full-size Fox flying over our garden several times a year from RAF Bicester. It's always worth a watch. Lovely planes. Pity there's only one full-size in the UK. Mind you, yours isn't much smaller.
Only one? I was sure I'd seen one flying at the Bristol club in Stroud/Selsley Common...?
You are completely mad Simon ! Well done - any ideas where to maiden it ?
Anyone good at repairing or making canopies?Si
First I had a foamy Windrider Fox...Then I got a Gerasis 2m Fox and still have it...Then this turned up in the back garden..It's 5.4m and 15Kg of Carbon/Kevlar/Glass loveliness from the defunct Purbeck Sailplanes but I'm already terrified about flying it and might have to draft in a professional! In the words of the designer and builder - "it's very fast and eats up a lot of sky" Gulp. Plus, it doesn't really want to land apparently...It's got the ailerons split so that you can use them for crow braking in addition to pop up airbrakes AND a mechanical brake on the wheel - you'd think it would stop wouldn't you?!I haven't actually got enough channels for all the servos in it (11) so I may have to link some (the split elevators and perhaps the pop up airbrakes and wheel brake perhaps? It is truly amazing and doesn't feel like a model - the wings etc are so solid with no "give" in them at all etcOne or two physical things to do to it before a dare fly and one annoying cosmetic thing (cracked canopy) but overall it was much much better than I dared hoped when I went down to Dorset to pick it up.Now, need to go and repair the Learjet!Simon
Simon,I launched Greg Dakins large Baudis Salto on Sunday (at the Bwlch). If you have a reasonable slope where you are launching in lift, then not much of a push is needed. I held the model over my head with my right and left hands holding the wing leading edges at the left and right wing roots respectively. Palms against the LE, thumbs on underside and fingers on the top side (so hands sort of point backwards). Let the model weathercock into the wind (vertical and horizontal aligned to wind). It was an easy push (well sort of 'pull' really) straight out away from the slope, and the model launched very cleanly with no drama into the 20-25mph wind. Trying to hold a large diameter fuselage is probably a recipe for disaster.Simon
I've got a couple of contacts for you that could help out.Eric
I am so nervous about landing this thing - I might do another years practice before I try, unless you want to fly it for me?!...Simon
No, this was a company that was not model related. Sorry I cant remember.
